I finished knitting the beret - yay! Sadly, as these photos show, the beret is FAR too big! Perhaps I have a tiny head? Lol!
Despite the inaccuracy with the sizing, I am very happy with the quality of the knitting. I really feel like I’ve finally mastered it. I’ll just notch this one up to experience and turn it into a cushion.

Today I finished up the socks I was working on. These have stripes. I thought they were cute and fun.

After many false starts I finally managed to master increasing and got this far but, sadly, ran out of wool, otherwise I would have got it finished today. Not very happy. I bought two 50g balls as per the instructions in the magazine, but I clearly need another. *fume*

OK more socks. But today I added cables down the leg of the socks for a cute look.

I am having fun making socks this winter. These socks are a wool blend so are washable and really comfy. I am working on a pair of socks for tomorrow’s thing as well but these have cables in the body of the sock so they are looking pretty cool right now. We will see how they turn out.

I knit this chevron lace panel today with the intention of wet felting it onto a rug. I find that the lace pattern is kind of hard to make out since I used handspun yarn…but that may just add some complexity to the final product, we’ll see!

The rovings from day 17? Here they are in their new and improved form.

Hand-dyed these rovings today. The wool is superwash (meaning it won’t felt), so these firey colours are destined to be spun into a skein of yarn.

I sewed a piece of knitted scrap into a flower-ring shape, added needlefelted details, some delicata and bugle beads, needle felted a stem and then a flower pod/bud, against adding further details by needlefelting, then sewed a pin back on. The camera doesn’t capture the dew-like sparkle of the many clear beads on the flower. The entire process took about three hours, start to finish, but that was using a piece of pre-knitted scrap I had in the box. I’m fast, but not THAT fast.
Here’s the back - see the gold pinback in the center of the flower?
And another angle, showing the overall composition
So whadd’ya think? I enjoyed myself, so of course it was worth the time and effort involved.

I made it before the end of the day. Finished up a pair of socks I was working on. 100% wool, a little thinner yarn so smaller needles and smaller knit stitches, very warm and cozy.

I finished the merino handspun yarn. It was spun on my spinning wheel (a lendrum).

With another finished yarn, comes another photo collage, with said yarn.

today i knit an olive:

i got the idea from dorklandia who got the idea from here. i think it’s the cutest, and i want to make a jarful… i followed the pattern pretty closely except that my needles were bigger (sz 5). i also didn’t have exact olive colors, but i think it conveys the idea well enough… (note: if you decide to make this, there is an second line that says ‘cast on 6 stitches’ after you have knit the first round, but this is wrong—don’t do that.)

i completed a fingerless glove that i started last week:

i still need to make the other one, but i’m not that happy with what i made and may make some adjustments for the right hand: smaller overall, bigger thumb hole, top edge is rolling but doesn’t seem to be in the original pattern (’fetching’ from knitty)…

I thought I’d try to add some fun yarn to the wool and see what happens. Well, the fun yarn didn’t shrink of course and so there are little bits of loose string sticking out all over. It gives it kind of a shabby look.

Today I finished a tapestry which was started by my Australian grandmother. She died a decade ago when it was only half done, so this has been sitting in a cupboard for a while. I’m planning on framing it and giving it to my mum for her birthday.
