Day 3 & Day 4 (ALL IN ONE!)

Okay, so more wedding stuff.  Here are a couple of sample invitations that I made for my future SIL’s bridal shower.  And you guessed - she LOVES, LOVES, LOVES pink.  We were also thinking about a possible cooking theme.  These are just concepts - they definitley need some tweaking.

The “Think Pink” one’s font will be a bit bigger and the words will be spaced out a bit to hig around the little dress in the corner.  This invite is handmade (except for the letters - that’s printed.)  The papers are layers and glued and the little dress in the corner is stamped (Stampin’ Up! baby) and embossed and then cut out.

The second invite with the plate is all done in photoshop (new to photoshop - I know it’s no great shakes, but I was pretty proud!).  In fact, the colors are much different on here than they should be (much more purpley and bright.)  I used a nice bright pink and crisp white, but it’s hard to tell.  You also can’t tell that there is a white border around the stipes. I plan on including a real black ribbon bow right about where it says “Lauren’s Shower” and then making this the front of a big envelope, which has 3 blank recipe cards inside (all custom made to match of course) that people fill out and bring with them to the shower, with little instructions.  I’m hoping to do a custom cookbook if we use this theme.

I’ve blocked out the personal information in case any of you are nut jobs (hehe.)

Day 4: Monogrammed Cards

Well aren’t these just cute!

My “S” card

I made these cards with my initial on them for sending as “anytime” notes.

If I can get any of my siblings married off, maybe I can make some for wedding thank-you’s!

Place Setting

Spent some time this morning drawing up more graphics for the ongoing project of a friend’s wedding. I finished the save-the-date cards a few months ago and now I’m spreading the design elements over onto all the other pieces for the wedding: the invitation itself, menus, place cards, programs, etc.

Today I made some more floral and botanical segments in Photoshop that will eventually be printed onto wooden chopsticks. They’ll be giving them away as party favors. The exciting part though is that we’ll be having a ton of them printed up, and maybe some matching ceramics, too. Those will be the first pieces of inventory in a home goods and decor business that a small group of us are starting together.

The pieces will go into production in the next couple of months. Can’t wait to see how they turn out!

Day 1: Wedding thank-you-note photo cards

Today’s chore was to write thank-you notes for people who attended our wedding on January 27. We had a bunch of extra invitations and envelopes, so we figured we’d print up some nice portraits and attach them to spare copies of the invites and include them in with the thank-you notes. So, I took an image I made a while back and did some addition of caption text and cropping and what-not to get ready to print out 70 copies. Then, in the rush to get out the door, I forgot to Follow Instructions and check my cropping before finalizing the order. So I ended up with 70 copies of the print with about half the text missing. (The image was prepped for 5×7 printing, but we decided to go for 4×6 instead.)

So, back to the drawing board, and this time we checked the dimensions before printing. Then it was just a matter of writing out the notes, attaching the photos to the backs of the invites with photo corners, and sticking them in envelopes.

This project wasn’t enormously creative, but it definitely counted as Getting Things Done and had a personalized, somewhat-creative twist. And yes, my wife makes the outfits - but not one a day!
