EEEE.

Last post! Unfortunately…. don’t remember what some things are/don’t have pictures for past things. Maybe later, afterwards. Cutting it close!

Think I left off at the twenty-fourth…? So:

Feb 25
3D linear sculpture thing for Design II class (no pic as of now; still needs to be fixed, too)

Feb 26
crappy sketch

Feb 27
but now

Feb 28
Color swatches for Design I (lame). First time using gouache, though.

Feb 29
Working on icons for my icon journal, of which there will be more as the night progresses into March…:

(I mostly mess around with the colors & stuff. Nothing too special, I guess.)

Well, that’s it… If anyone cares, here are some links of mine:
DeviantArt
Blog where I put Thing a Day stuff
Aforementioned icon journal

Next year I’ll do better. ._. With pictures & stuff.

(waves) Byee all. ;_;/ Come visit my URLs (and give me yours! (Please?))

day 27

Well, my portfolio is finished! (with editorial work anyway). And thing-a-day
is winding down. I’m going out of town tomorrow so I may or may not have computer
access for the last 2 days. Today I started playing around with some watercolor stripes and
ended up with a sunset. It reminds me of a lovely one my boy and I saw one October
in Trexler park.

new banner

I’ve just finished this banner for my blog. What do you think? Is it horrible? Honest, but constructive criticism please.

Do the colors turn you off? Is it too busy? Unbalanced? Whatever, I’d love to hear.
I’m thinking about changing it up quarterly, so it wouldn’t be permanent. But I don’t want to turn away viewers because my banner turns their stomach, lol.

Days 22-23

Day 22 Thing:  More doodling in the paperback.  This time with rough, spirally circles which I actually expanded upon by using them in my …

Day 23 Thing:  A very rough, preliminary idea of what my business cards could look like.  I am struggling to find something I can repurpose/reuse for cards (and will probably just go for professionally printed instead).  But in the meantime I found a previously-painted section of watercolor paper that I then sketched over…

I would like to go for a unique shape/size such as this square version, and may go back to punched holes rather than circles…

you do the math

I tried out gouache for the first time (I actually thought I was watercoloring)… not that it matters I wouldn’t know what I was doing either way.  I’m also going to add that I don’t do anything delicately, nor do I do flowers.  I was trying to make a  card that grandma would like to say thanks for an awesomely old-timey hardcover cookbook she recently passed on to me.  And all she gets in return in a sloppy test run at trying to paint…

day 20

Today I made a birthday card for my good friend Kiki
(we even share the same nickname — she’s 1 and I’m 2). Tonight I had the great
pleasure of meeting up with some very fabulous friends from my former
place of employment (some of whom check my thing-a-day so thank you so very much for
the lovely evening!). We celebrated her birthday and my new adventures — it was
a very wonderful night out!!!

day 19

day 19

I was feeling a little out of sorts today.
Sometimes when this happens my fiance
would make these elephant noises over
the phone at me to make me laugh. And it
always worked. I started drawing with a sharpie
today and one elephant appeared. Then I fit another
elephant into the negative space that the
first elephant at the top of the page created. I ended
up with some stackable elephants and a lighter mood.

Thing 12. Doodle of Lifta

Thing 12. Drawing of Lifta

I’m not sure I’d call this a real drawing. It started out as a doodle to test a new pen to see whether it would bleed through the paper of my photo book. It’s a sketch of the ruined village of Lifta. The houses really do look like they’ve been built at different angles!

table + Cheesekitteh + wall paint

I slacked on POSTING this weekend, but I think everything I actually DID makes up for it (and tonight, if this headache doesn’t go away!)

Table we made. After adding more reinforcement. It’s sturdy now. :D

table

I painted a pic of my cat Cheesecake. (Affectionately known as Cheesekitteh, Cheesey, or Cheesebutt) FAIL!

Cheesekitteh

Well, hey it’s not bad considering I wasn’t looking at her face at all. I forgot the exact shape of cat mouths. SUE me!

Oh yeah, and we painted this wall at the top of the stairs (and also two closet doors) in our apartment. A small wall, but hey, it was enough to get me high on paint (and a terrible headache).

wall & tail

That painting is a pastel self-portrait I did in college. That’s Cheesebutt’s tail in the way.

Day 10 - edge, again

No pictures since I was just testing out a new squirrel mop brush I bought (splurged) on - I painted lines of various thicknesses to test out the versatility of the brush (got some nice fine lines with it), did a couple wet on wet splotches, nothing I’d really want to show.

Watercolors! Yay!

I got watercolors for Christmas and this is the first chance I’ve had to use them. I failed miserably at the last two days, and I’m really sorry about that. I kind of let myself down. However, now I’m even more determined to meet the midnight deadline for the rest of the days.

I am very happy with how my first watercolor piece turned out. I knew I wanted to do something that flowed and I think I accomplished that. The first picture is of my watercolor by itself and then the second picture if after I touched it up in photoshop. I moved the left arm a bit and got rid of all the smudge marks.

Special thanks to my friend Noah who gave me his old drawing tablet for the computer. I LOVE it. Now I’m pretty sure I’m going to get back into photoshop! Yay Noah!
