I am liking this post-every-few-days thing that I have going. Probably cheating, so don’t tell on me.
Day 20 Thing: more paperback sketching. This time with straight, varying lines.
Day 21 Thing: A quick store tote in a cheesy (but cheery) 70s/80s bedsheet. And since it is so thin I can roll it up quite small and always have it on hand for the checkout line.

Day 20 already - only nine more ‘things’ to do!
Today I was itching to make something with all the old and new beads I’ve acquired from eBay recently. I’ve long fancied a chunky, asymmetric, totally random necklace featuring uniquely different beads. So, I had a go, and this is the result.

It’s threaded on elasticated cord - haven’t quite yet worked out how best to secure/fasten it. But, apart from that, I’m really happy with it.

I went thrifting today and picked up some gorgeous, delicate Noritake teacups and saucers. Oh, and this too:

The item on the left is a trivet but I think it’s pretty much demanding to be hung up in the kitchen. It’s gonna go perfectly with my plastic KFC picnic bag.

For those of you who are interested (Kay!) I’ve included a scan of the preliminary sketch that eventually evolved into the finished work. I’m using the Copic pigment liners I was allowed to buy myself for a Valentine’s Day gift. The aluminum barrels feel great.
Strangely enough, this is the most modern of my subjects so far.

Day 7 already! I think I’m running out of ideas. :S
Today, I put my new vintage buttons to good use and made a couple of monochrome rings inspired by Ric Rac (http://vintagericrac.blogspot.com/2008/01/psssssst-need-quick-fix.html) (Please excuse the dreadful state of my fingernails!)

P.S. Is anyone else having as much trouble as me uploading stuff to Wordpress?

I made another sticker for my thing-a-day thing. This one took longer because I cut out the shape. Tomorrow, no more stickers.

My thing 5 is stickers. I know I’m late, so I made several. These are images that I cut out of vintage magazines, coloring books, and school books. I made them using a Xyron sticker maker. Good times.

I think I used up all my creativity yesterday, so all I did today was sort and clean the masses of vintage buttons I recently bought off eBay for future ‘Thing-A-Day’ projects, with one eye on the England game. There are some real gems in this lot (and yet more + beads to come - lovely stuff!).

Drying, after a quick dunk in a very gentle solution of warm water and ‘eco’ washing-up liquid.

All done!

Today for thing a day I followed instructions from this website: tech blogs top 5 photoshop tutorialsThe second tutorial then added a little flavor. Happy Almost Valentines day!

So, I don’t really like collaging any more.
It’s something I loved to do in highschool (with real live scissors and paper)
But… I just don’t really like doing it anymore.
The imperfection of it is what irritates me, I guess- I can never find the images I want when I want them.
Easier to just make the images from scratch.
Anyway. One of my school assignments was to make a digital collage. So I did.
I can’t say I particularly enjoyed the process, but it wasn’t as irritating as I expected.
I do like the huge amount of flexibility there is in doing this digitally.
Not terribly satisfied with the final product, but when all’s said and done, I’m glad I did it, and I’ll probably do more like it to explore the possibilities here (which are possibly endless).
Less words more thing. Working title, “Matryoshka? Chernobyl?”:

PS: Technically I guess this counts as ”following instructions,” ”shoot it again” (since I reused someone else’s images), and … possibly ”war.”
Well, now it feels worth it ;-)

Thing-A-Day has turned into Experiment-A-Day for me. Here is a close-up of the fabric bookmarks (?) that I am working towards.

It was super simple: Rectangle of thrifted vintage bed sheet sewn on slightly larger rectangle of stiff grey felt.

I’ll be participating in a local craft fair in March (my first!) with three of my friends and I’m quite excited. Here is what I made today–a cuff made from a vintage thrifted tie.

I’ll be making more of these and some other fun accessories to sell. Did I say how excited I am?

Fed up with the ‘me too-ism’ rampant on a site on which I sell my work, I put away my stash of vintage beads. My huge, dozens-of-pounds, carefully culled over 4 days at a New England bead warehouse stash of vintage beads.Until today. They’re back.I’m happy.
