Still on the bead-making run. Actually, I’m almost always on bead, cane or jewelry-making crazes if I’m happy… sort of if you’re happy and you know… make beads. Building millefiori canes in clay makes scrap pieces of otherwise fabulous shades and designs. So two fun techniques are to swirl them into the little spiraled UFO shapes or to make mirror-image beads by cutting and opening bits of scrap up.
Here’s a few from today’s batch:

And on the blog post of mine there is a picture of all of today’s scrappy beads plus a better view of the ones I made yesterday. Phew. Serious beads!

Anyone that plays with polymer clay, knows you have a treasure trove in your scrap box. (If you don’t have one get one. Don’t toss the “waste” from your clay project. )
I also have a huge box of textures, but have neglected to use them much. So why not grab the two and play around.

I’ve spent most of the day curled up on the sofa with a hot water bottle due to my current ‘womanly status’. As such, I wasn’t feeling too creative, but I managed to crawl across the room to my sewing machine to run this little bookmark up (I’m always in need of an extra bookmark, so it seemed like a practical thing to do).

The strips of fabric are from my scrap bag (the best sort of fabric!), and I’ve stiffened it with a strip of thin cardboard (from a biscuit box). It’s very badly finished, but as a quickie project, devised entirely on the hoof, I think it’s worked out well; functional, if not the most attractive thing I’ve ever made!

I saw a pattern for these beads while I was at home over Christmas, and despite working from (my rather sketchy) memory, I think they turned out quite well - though they were jolly fiddly to make.

The fabric strips were from my scrap bag, and the beads are stuffed with cotton wool. Not sure what I’m going to do with them. I’ll need a whole lot more to make a necklace out of them! Perhaps I’ll manage a bracelet (eventually!).
