I did the binding off last night. So rewarding! And I started the fringing and ran out of time. The Blue Sky Alpacas yarn is so sumptuous I want to go right into making something else with it!

P.S. Thing-a-Day was in maintenence last night. This is my Day #27 entry.

I made another scarf, thicker (on purpose) and slight shorter (oops) than last time:
In purple for mom.

all by itself. i decided to document it as it lay there, stranded and alone.

i’m really bad about finishing things like weaving in loose ends for knitting and hemming for sewing (that’s why tshirts are ideal for me—because they will just roll, don’t have to be hemmed). today, i finished 2 scarves that i made last year and have been wearing, but never wove in the loose ends. i finally did that today and also added fringe to the blue one.

both scarves were knitted using a combination of lion brand fun fur and moda dea dream (both are available at michael’s). they were knitted in garter stitch and every 3-4 rows, i wrapped one to so that some rows are longer/have more space.

Day 23, I won’t lie: NOTHING. I really don’t think making a cup of tea and sharing a cup “virtually” with a chat-friend counts as making anything, but that’s the most productive thing I did.
Day 24, I made this knotted ribbon scarf that you can’t properly see in the photo. I used red ribbon. I thought I had planned well and cut extra length in preparation for what would be lost with the knotting, but I was wrong. It’s shorter than I had hoped. It’s also just not as cool as I had hoped. Not sure what I’ll do with it. I might just use it as the tie back for my bedroom curtain rather than making the swag I had planned. Or I may give it to that special little six-year-old girl I adore, because she is very tiny and it will fit her the way I had intended it to fit an adult.

I have to admit the Thing for Today was not made completely today. I had most of it done a couple of weeks ago, but put the finishing touches on it today and took the picture today. This is one of my favorites. I am hoping to get it on my etsy site soon. It is so soft, and thick, and I made it long enough to wrap around your neck a couple of times, with really cute fringe on the ends.

A collaboration between my boyfriend Craig and myself. He came up with the idea for a mempo inspired scarf and sketched out some design ideas, which I later re interpreted and then silkscreened onto these fleece scarves! We’ve spent quite a few days going over the designs and silkscreening them all and stuff. And today we finally finished all the work and got to take some pictures to show them off! The Japanese Mempo is a traditional armoured face mask found on a Samurai Kabuto helmet. These masks not only protected their faces, but were used to intimidate foes on the battlefield. One of my friends was kind enough to let me take some pictures of her wearing one of the scarves.

It’s suddenly turned very cold in Leeds, so I’ve made myself another scarf. It turned out a bit longer than I expected but it’s certainly very warm. I’ll be really disappointed if I get up tomorrow to find that the weather has changed again.

It looks a bit grey in these pictures but it’s actually a nice lavender colour

Maybe this should count as my 18th day… no, actually, I did this yesterday and managed to finish it in one day so…

This is a scarf for someone special. It is a shorter style that you wrap from the front to behind the neck and bring around again (as shown) and is held closed with a button through the crochet. Unfortunately, due to my shoddy camera, you cannot properly make out how pretty the colors are. It is creme with a mixed pink edging and fringe. The button is a pink plastic button from my grandmother’s sewing kit, and I used silver beads on the fringe for a little fun.

Daily Photo:

I have cast on for a scarf. I have been knitting coasters like crazy and needed a break from that. This is in pretty shades of brown and olive with some verigated striping. I only have 6 rows done so far, but it’s a start.

Am making headway on this scarf I started this week. have learned knitted cast on. Learning anything takes putting time into it.

Just finished this scarf today.I had to rip out sections many times because I found the pattern hard to follow if I didn’t write down where I was row by row.

I guess I am in a “yarn” mood lately, or maybe it is just because it is chilly here so I want to make soft, cuddly things. Today I made a scarf. Came out cute. Knit with a basket weave pattern and fringe on the ends. Really soft, really warm, great for these chilly days.

More food y’all:

Pan-fried steak with carmelized mango, shallots and avocado “salsa”(?) on top. Served with more grilled shallots and red bell peppers on the side. Also a salad with raspberries, apple slices, almonds, shaved parmesan, avocado, parsley and cilantro on top of all the regular players. I was hungry, thus portions were pretty mountainous today.
I’m also just starting a scarf that isn’t knitted, but held together with knots because… I can’t knit.

As you can see, there were 4 main strands tied together to create a scarf with a little less width than I normally like. So, now that I’ve taken this picture- I’m going to pull it apart and start all over with an extra two strands to hopefully fatten it up nicely. Here goes..

I’m still working on knitting my scarf. I think I’m halfway there, so I might actually be able to wear it before the weather turns for spring. I’ve also started knitting another one of those kitties, this time I’m planning to stuff it with cotton and a little bit of catnip to sent to my sister as a little toy for her cat. I’ve also been attempting to learn how to crochet–its not that its hard to learn, but controlling the tension for me is almost impossible. Even knitting I have a little trouble with yarn tension, too.
Tonight I hope I can make up some cute valentine cards, but I know I’ll be too tired to post them afterward, so they may be part of tomorrow’s post.

Today’s thing-a-day, a domo-kun inspired scarf. For those of you who don’t know who domo-kun is, a reference pic is below.

Meant to spend 30 minutes starting a scarf…the night got away from me, and now I’m halfway done!
