Day 23, I won’t lie: NOTHING. I really don’t think making a cup of tea and sharing a cup “virtually” with a chat-friend counts as making anything, but that’s the most productive thing I did.
Day 24, I made this knotted ribbon scarf that you can’t properly see in the photo. I used red ribbon. I thought I had planned well and cut extra length in preparation for what would be lost with the knotting, but I was wrong. It’s shorter than I had hoped. It’s also just not as cool as I had hoped. Not sure what I’ll do with it. I might just use it as the tie back for my bedroom curtain rather than making the swag I had planned. Or I may give it to that special little six-year-old girl I adore, because she is very tiny and it will fit her the way I had intended it to fit an adult.

I like paper crafts so much, I keep going back to the same projects. A few months ago I saw this and decided to glue nice strips of paper [with cool patterns I found in an IKEA catalogue… ] to sized toilet rolls. Made a few bracelets. Huge sucess!
This time I thought that I could cut skinnier and shorter rings and make a necklace:

This is an improvised log cabin quilt block that I made with various ribbons. It’s about 4 inches square. Not sure what I’ll do with it yet….probably add it to another project. The photo doesn’t do the nice bright colors justice.

My school’s choir does “Singing Valentines” every year - students buy grams for their valentines or just their friends and write their class schedule on the card. The choir splits into 2 groups of girls and 2 groups of guys, and we find them in their classes and shower them with obnoxious affection in the form of song and dance while wearing ridiculously pink outfits. Oh, high school.
My group of 8 girls’ outfits consist of pink and red plaid pajama bottoms and white wifebeaters with candy hearts with different phrases (QT 3.14 might be the most creative, ever) ironed onto the front. The back has the name of the singer and the year. I ribbon-ed the shirt/pants up and made tags with washing instructions. (I should probably be doing my homework, haha).

Last night my best friend told me a wonderful story about her 6-year-old daughter. I don’t really like kids, except my own and this one little girl. The story was funny, and amazing all at the same time, and we are very proud of this special little girl.
So for my Day 9 Thing-A-Day I decided to make something for her. This is what I did.

And filled it with dark chocolate Hershey’s Kisses.

Well today I made yet another bookmark. This one out of ribbon (similar to the one I made the other day) Another simple, easy project.
This one is thinner but it’s more sturdy. And both ribbons (the blue one and the white with splotches) were almost gone so this seems to be the perfect project to use with leftover ribbon from other projects!

Anyway, this is really simple and if you can sew a straight line you can do this! I just sew the two ribbons together. Then fold the bottom to create the point. And then fold down the top and tack both ends down!
This one will be slipped into a letter I’m going to send someone and hopefully she will like it as much as I do! LOL

My cat’s demanding a lap so I have to right this quickly (back off, kitty!). I framed a piece of sheer fabric that I had laying around. The fabric has these floral appliques adhered to it. I backed the sheer fabric with a light turquoise fabric, and wrapped it all (no kitty, bad kitty!) around a piece of adhesive foam core. Then I lined the edge with two different kinds of ribbon. I was going to do two of these, but I ran out of ribbon, and since it’s a 20-odd year old remnant, I don’t think I’ll be able to find any more of it. Anyway, here it is. Sorry the picture’s so dark, but I have terrible lighting in my house. I’ll try to get a better photo tomorrow.

Card, sharp knife and ribbon. You can’t get more simple than that. But this is a good example of allowing yourself half an hour to just sit down with an idea in your head.
You can see how I got to this one here on my blog.

Finally I have organized my flickr site to include the things from the first three days.
The Day One will be for a snowflake trade that I am part of - although it turned out a bit more random than I had planned.
I had started making a crocheted sculptural form, after looking at the crocheted reef project, ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/84445194@N00/sets/72157594407472295/ ) but when my daughter saw it, she asked if it was a beanie. So it became one. Disclaimer: it isn’t as mathematically precise as this coral, being designed on the wing.
The little face charms for Day three took quite a bit of experimenting to get right. I was given some leftover acrylic circles and wanted to see how the liquid sculpey interacted. In order to avoid air bubbles the painted face, in this case water color crayons on cotton poplin, must be stuck down with the LPC and baked once, then covered and baked again. I did a sand and second layer, baking again (third time) before using some water based gloss varnish. I will say the LPC skews the colors to the yellow spectrum.

Cute Rabbit from the Aranzi Aronzo Cute Dolls book. Special thanks to Greg for helping with the face.

Hey there,
Excited to be joining this but a bit apprehensive too. Still thinking about what I’ll be making but I have a feeling that it will involve ribbon at some point.
