Okay, so back to one of the reasons I started this thing-a-day project, doing some sketching. One is inspired by the work of Keri Smith and my newfound love of all sorts of maps. The second is Andrew Jackson’s portrait, taken from a $20 bill, which struck me because of his feminine attributes - the hair, the pursed lips, the articulated eyes. Both are in my little Kolo sketchbook in pencil.

Today I did TWO things!
1.) I Voted!

2.) I taught a middle schooler about topographic maps using my knuckles. She thinks I’m crazy but she’ll never forget what a topo map is! (I never did anyway, and this is how I learned it!)

Oh man, I keep getting distracted from doing things by fun people and events. Finished a mix for a friend, and I’m hoping the playlist and cover design could count for 2 different “things”. I know it’s cheating…but it’s better than giving up!

Inspired by the song “Map Your Psyche” by Busdriver. Down in the bottom-right corner is the Mountains of Sorrow, whose entrance is the Cave of Defense Mechanisms. All the rivers are the Streams of Consciousness. (har har punny.) The body of water on the right in the Lake of Love and the one on the left is the Lake of Loneliness. The building in the middle is the library (I read a lot) above it is the Short Term Memory recycling center, and the one below is the Church of Aetheism. The area in the upper left corner is my Happy Place, surrounded by the Plateaus of Relaxation. Everything else requires explanation, so I”ll leave it at that.
