i even impressed myself!

feb-23-019.jpgA little white star lantern, embellished with buttons and ribbon and a battery operated candle.  This is my sample - I’m going to sell this craft as a KIT in my etsy shop.  I’ll list it in the a.m.!  feb-23-014.jpgIt’ll include the lantern, 4 different ribbons, plenty of buttons, star rhinestones and sequins.  It’ll also have the little tealight and I cut little paper tags to match!

A few self-portraits. Basically self-explanatory. I was playing with light. It was the wee hours of the morning so I was still in darkness, mainly, except for candlelight and computer light. I’ve done much better but eh.

Day 21 - Lightbox and beads

I painted the rest of the beads, used a brush. So they’re cute:

Little Painted Lentils

And to help with pics I made a poor woman’s light box out of cardboard and tissue and my hot like the sun desk lamp. The resulting pics still needed photoshopping but were much more consistent and less shadowy than others i’ve taken. I’m told the ambient brightness in the room made my pics too dark (so now the correction washes it out) and that i should take the pics in a darker room so that the light of the lightbox actually LIGHTENS the pic. Stay tuned.

His Shadow

Inspired by entries Hirshhorn Modern Art Gallery in Washington DC’s paper-art exhibit, I decided to try my hand with very sharp objects and then play with my home studio (consisting of a desk lamp and two black t-shirts. Enjoy:

The Thing, well, more of a Hand

I had something else planned for today, but I felt like having a rest, so I made something from scratch in photoshop. the doorways and light are modeled on the ones in my house :) The Hand

Day 2

Well this isn’t what I had planned for today. But I’m not feeling particularly beady, and instead I took my baby outside to sit in the grass, since he’s now able to sit up. Happy Six Months, baby! I was taking lots of pics trying to get his eyes, which are just gorgeous. I love seeing light reflections in photos. Anyway, back inside with photoshop I started messing around and voila. This one pic of his eyes with a filter added was just crazy clear with the way it reflected everything. Well, clear if you know what he’s looking at. You can see the black object (Me! Does that mean I have a black soul? My shoulder is shiny! Surely that counts for something.) and the white of our porch roof, the blue sky, etc.

There’s also another pic of him being a good boy and eating his greens.

Sliver Lamp

So I had some scanner lamps on my desk for a while and I finally decided to make a desk lamp for myself. One of the bulbs was busted so only 1 light for now. I was considering putting it on the wall but with a piece of astro turf the lamp looks good sitting next to my computer. Some pics here
