I tried out gouache for the first time (I actually thought I was watercoloring)… not that it matters I wouldn’t know what I was doing either way. I’m also going to add that I don’t do anything delicately, nor do I do flowers. I was trying to make a card that grandma would like to say thanks for an awesomely old-timey hardcover cookbook she recently passed on to me. And all she gets in return in a sloppy test run at trying to paint…
…. under the sea? Sponge Bob Square Pants!
Ok, today’s thing is a present for my cousin’s son. Foam pins of sponge bob and patrick star. Now he can wear them whenever he wants! I made these with adhesive backed foam sheets - I picked up a variety color pack, very handy. I have a lot left over, so I’ll probably make something else out of it before the month is out. The nose of sponge bob doesn’t show up well in the pictures, but he does have one, I swear!

This weekend I have the pleasure of attending various events and performances to support my friends: USA States Dance Competition, and a friend playing Bernardo in West Side Story. I started baking cookies as their “good job” gifts, and ended up making a lot more than I had expected. I suppose these will become Valentine’s treats for my friends in the upcoming week.
I knew I wanted to make cut-out sugar cookies with lemon icing, but I wasn’t sure what shapes to use. Therefore, I ended up making small letter cookies of the initial of the cookie recipient. Lemon-y royal icing colored pale pink to be festive and bagged with a tag that says “A is for Alice” (or whatever the letter/name). They look kind of lumpy, haha.

CD for a friend. Title: Paris -Part 1.

My friend is in hospital after an operation. She’s cheerful and well on her way to recovery, even sounding like her usual self on the phone. I went to visit today and I made a care package for her. The basket is recycled from the gift baskets we get at work, I got a couple of large pears, a punnet of strawberries and some cherries. Add to that is a package of Japanese Oreos, for the sole purpose of testing to see if the Japanese Oreos taste the same as regular Oreos. Photo quality is not good cos it was taken using my cellphone.
