Fridays are Cocktail Days for my Thing-a-Day!

I started this on Sunday night, infusing vodka with candied ginger.

My invented drink uses this infused vodka, 2 oz. of it, with…
0.5 oz. of homemade sweet & sour mix
2 dashes Fee’s orange bitters
and one of my homemade brandied cherries for garnish!

It turned out pretty well balanced, with sweet, sour and spicy flavors!

I’ve decided that Fridays of this Thing-a-Day month will be cocktail creation days!

This one is inspired by the home of Mardi Gras, New Orleans. A Mimosa-like variation on the old standard, the Sazerac.

Build in glass:
1 tsp. absinthe (I suppose Pernod will do as well)
0.5 oz. Rye Whiskey
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

Top with in equal parts:
Sparkling wine (I used Freixenet Cava)
Orange Juice (I prefer “Simply Orange”)
