Day 4 - Blueberry Dye

Blueberry Dye Sequence

Today I made homemade dye by boiling blueberries.

Silly me thought I would get a lovely indigo colour, however it’s pink.

I’m holding out on what I will be using the dye for, because that is for a future post.

For Day 5, I am going to decorate a container and fill it with pieces of paper that have yoga poses written on them. I am going to try doing my yoga practice from home, but I want it to be a no brainer, as well as mix the routine up so that it is different each day.

Tovey is not a troll

Toddler

No matter how much he looks like a cute one in this sketch. He’s two, we were having lunch, I did my best. Two year-olds are wiggly and hard to capture in sketches.

The eyes are pretty darn good in that they actually look like his eyes. The hair and ears and chin are ok too. Not so much the cheeks and nose and mouth. Chewing causes difficulty.

Day 4: Paper Critters

I spent about an hour today playing around on the Paper Critters website, where you can design and print your own paper toys. All of the toys have the same basic body shape, and you decorate them to your taste. They have a pretty nice variety of decals in a couple of styles that you can use, and they have a few drawing tools if you happen to be one of those people who can actually free-hand draw with a mouse (if you are one of those people, I hate you. When I try to draw with a mouse it looks like an actual mouse did the drawing.) The drawing function is also limited by the fact that there is no erase tool. It would also be nice if there were a cut and paste option, but otherwise it’s a fun little site to play around with. You can also check out other peoples creations in their gallery. Here’s one of my creations below (unfortunately, I don’t have a color printer, so I’m limited to black and white designs).

Brandie’s Day 4

Continuing on with the book theme ….

My oldest dd made another book today (and really they are so cute. I’ve tried to take pictures of the pages, but they don’t turn out well and I REALLY wish that I had a scanner to scan them in that way). My other daughter made a bookmark. And I also made a bookmark - this one out of fabric =)

I really like my bookmark though. I think it turned out very cute. Although, I was also thinking that I might add a little charm to the end of it to give it some weight to hang down, but I’m not sure because I really like it now and sometimes too much can be, well, too much!

Saying Hello

The Girl, in Hat

“Because I miss her, here is a photo of her that I played with a bit. It is my creativity for the day. (Doesn’t she just have the cutest eyebrows?)”
