Day 2: Mardi Gras

So, my previous post was a bit of a cheat. I made both the snow-Jabba and the skull on Friday. Today was the Mardi Gras parade in St. Louis, so I spent most of the day drinking and gathering beads, and I didn’t think I’d get around to making anything. But I’m still awake, and even if it is after midnight, I still consider this Day 2, cause the day’s not over till you go to bed. So, in honor of Mardi Gras I decided to make a mask. It’s paper, with paint and glitter, so it’s more for decoration (not very wearable). The paint’s still wet, so I’ll have to wait till morning to add the ribbon ties and maybe some feathers. But it’s close enough to done for me to claim it for my Day-2-thing. Hooray!

Place Setting

Spent some time this morning drawing up more graphics for the ongoing project of a friend’s wedding. I finished the save-the-date cards a few months ago and now I’m spreading the design elements over onto all the other pieces for the wedding: the invitation itself, menus, place cards, programs, etc.

Today I made some more floral and botanical segments in Photoshop that will eventually be printed onto wooden chopsticks. They’ll be giving them away as party favors. The exciting part though is that we’ll be having a ton of them printed up, and maybe some matching ceramics, too. Those will be the first pieces of inventory in a home goods and decor business that a small group of us are starting together.

The pieces will go into production in the next couple of months. Can’t wait to see how they turn out!

Day 2 - earrings

Today I’m traveling so I brought something small to work on - I made a pair of earrings. I only had a cell phone with which to photograph them with… all kinds of lack of focus! I’ll take a better shot tomorrow, and update. They are made of silver wire and glass beads. It’s great because I’ve wanted to make these for a while now.

Brandie’s Day 2!

So, keeping with our theme of books, today we all made books! The girls both decorated their pages (and I have to say, they did a fabulous job but I’m biased LOL). I kept mine blank. I am not sure what I will do with it though … Maybe I will use it to do some drawings through out February ;-)

Day 1 and 2: Skull and snow(men)

Day 1 was a snow day, after we got 9 inches of snow dropped on us here in St. Louis. My roommate and I decided, it had been far too long since either of us had made a snowman, so we went out to the backyard to make one. However, the snow wasn’t really cooperating (too powdery), so we made a snow”creature” instead. See if you can figure out who it is:

I also made this little fellow from skull-a-day.com:

Me with Headache

This is me with a headache. (Not, as my g/f suggested, me “being a mental”.)

Today has mostly been about headaches. Accompanying blog post is a bit rubbish, as a result. This daily creativity thing is a challenge when you’re a sick person. So here I philosophize - briefly - about my aforementioned status as a sick person.

Also I talk about how my Girl is going away, and how she nearly lost all her pictures of London Underground signs.

Gesture sketches of the kids

 Gestures sketchees of my kids

The funny thing about this is that there’s one of the one kid, and over a dozen of the other. It really captures the quieter, stiller nature of the one and the more active, dramatic nature of the other. Seriously, all Seb did was maybe sit up some from time to time.
