Ok, back to the comic for today.
I would like to point out that this is not a profound rip off of Harold and the Purple Crayon because my character has a green crayon.
The page this appears on is shaping up to look something like this:

That’s right! You get two days for the price of one today! I had too much fun last night (yakitori dinner, Press Your Luck & the American Gladiators season finale) to post so here now is the very simple ring I made out of some leftover buttons:
And also the pendants I worked on tonight:
I used pink sakura printed origami paper for one and a drawing from an Adrian Tomine notebook for the other. Tomine is one of my favorite comic artists so I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. In the next few days I’ll probably put more layers of acrylic sealer on them to make sure they can last me a long time.

I’m not burnt out, it’s just the lyrics of the song.
Here’s how page two of the Hopeumentary comic is shaping up:

more work for an animation i’m (gradually) working on.
that’s all, folks.

(p.s. if anyone could let me know how to make a link to my flickr page i would greatly appreciate it. i’ve been just pasting the address, but that doesn’t seem to be working. and it’s starting to piss me off.)

Back by popular demand, the nerd getting stomped in the background of day 3’s drawing makes a second appearance. This is another out-of-order panel for my Hopeumentary comic. You gonna luv it.
I’m about to go watch that Tales of Earthsea film directed by Miyazaki’s son or something. This afternoon I was kind of lazy and just broke out my paints and dicked around for a bit. I’ll work my way up to something more serious.

thing-a-day no. 3 (now I’m all caught up!) :

This drawing is fan art. Not only am I a huge fan of the comic book, Ping Pong, (which is slowly being translated at that link), of the character Peko (depicted above), and of the cartoonist, Taiyo Matsumoto (he is MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE); I am also a newly minted fan of thing-a-day poster rowstyles and his fabulous hand-drawn fonts. I hate lettering because I suck at it, but there’s no cheaper way to learn than to blatantly copy someone else’s shit. I’m also a fan of Grado SR60 headphones, plain chocolate bars, boys with long hair in hats, the Korean and German languages, and bad spelling.
Drawn with a 0.05mm Staedler Pigment Liner pen on paper. Polka dots provided by a Deleter Jr. screen (ya know, the kind you have to cut out with an exacto knife and paste on yer drawing)
Oh dear. Scrambling to meet the deadline on the very first day… that’s not the best sign.
Okay, I went over the limit on this one. By more than a bit. I apologize! I got into a weird mood about it. It definitely won’t happen again. I’m going to force myself to relax about it, definitely! From now on I’ll have fun and avoid stress.
Tomorrow, there’ll be naked people! Till then, I hope you enjoy this mini-comic. Good luck to everyone!

Woohoo! First post! *confetti*
Anyways. I had this wonderful idea to do a series of short comics centering around the days of February. Now, I know, February’s just a month, how do you personify days? Well you see there’s this thing called “history,” I absolutely hate studying it but it gives meaning to each day, which in turn can be personified.
So, here’s the first! The image is through the link, since one of the events I chose isn’t quite worksafe (boobage). Challenge yourself; figure the events/people out! I’ll post the answers on tomorrow’s entry!
Here! I’m quite satisfied with it, especially since I only did it in 45 minutes, but I definitely see the flaws; I wish I had had a better eraser with me! But I had to use the scanners and image software on campus, so it was poor eraser or don’t post it. I also would’ve preferred to use the color better, and maybe color the whole thing instead of just a few bits, but I simply don’t have time. Outside of the First’s physical flaws, I think I did well showing the events I intended to.
I may or may not continue this idea; I like variety, so I’ll probably do this in addition to a different project. We shall see!
heh. i used to doodle this character back in the 80s during junior high. a man’s man and a killer guppie exploring the conflicts in life. scanned color pencils with an unsure hand and presto - this is what you get.
