This is the first thing that I’ve made this month that I don’t like. I tried to use a paintbrush to apply bleach to this black t-shirt. In my head, it was supposed to come out all whimsical and pretty, but I think that it just looks blobby and strange. I actually think it looks cooler in the pictures than it does in person. I’ll still wear it around the house and stuff though - it’s still functional. The one cool part is that some of the bleach bled through to the back of the shirt, and it looks pretty neat (and I just now realized I didn’t take any pictures of that!)

tonight i dyed a turtleneck from a creme color to gray. i know that’s totally boring, but it had to be done, and it probably wouldn’t've happened for another month or more (past turtleneck-wearing season), had it not been for thing.a.day…

why not just buy a gray turtleneck, you ask? that’s a good question! i did look for one, but i couldn’t find one that i liked and that didn’t tickle my neck… you see, i have this thing about turtlenecks and can’t usually wear them—in fact, i haven’t worn them since high school until this year… because they tickle my neck, and i used end up having to pull them down off my neck all day whenever i would wear them… but i found a kind that i like… it’s thin and good for layering and the neck is loose enough (but not too loose!) so it doesn’t tickle my neck. i bought a bunch of them in multiple colors, but they were out of gray. so i bought a creme-colored one thinking that i could dye it if i needed to… and i even continued to look for another gray turtleneck, but couldn’t find one… this was like 3 months ago…. and i tend to procrastinate about stuff like this… so it didn’t look like i would actually get a gray turtleneck anytime soon, but today, because i hadn’t made a thing yet, i decided that would be my thing today, and i actually dragged myself to the store after work, bought some dye, and dyed/dried the whole thing when i got home. thank you, thing.a.day! my other clothes thank you too, for now they will have a gray turtleneck companion to keep them company!
also, here is a picture of a scorpion that i took the other day but forgot to upload:

My school’s choir does “Singing Valentines” every year - students buy grams for their valentines or just their friends and write their class schedule on the card. The choir splits into 2 groups of girls and 2 groups of guys, and we find them in their classes and shower them with obnoxious affection in the form of song and dance while wearing ridiculously pink outfits. Oh, high school.
My group of 8 girls’ outfits consist of pink and red plaid pajama bottoms and white wifebeaters with candy hearts with different phrases (QT 3.14 might be the most creative, ever) ironed onto the front. The back has the name of the singer and the year. I ribbon-ed the shirt/pants up and made tags with washing instructions. (I should probably be doing my homework, haha).

Today I unmade and remade the closet that my husband and I share. As I mentioned on Day 1, my husband got a job! This came with much shopping for clothes and other prepping. And of course, the nasty realization that my clothes were taking up um, almost all of the walk in closet we shared. My camera battery was dead, so no before pictures, but let me just say there was a dresser in the back that kill a quarter or more of the hanging space and clothes I never wore took up probably half of what was left. After a few hours of hard work I had this:

A HUGE bag of clothes to give away. Plus a pile probably half that size of clothes to be put up–mostly to be put into quilts or photographed before they were given away. Plus a smaller pile of things to be put away in drawers and not hung.
After some rearranging and sorting, my side of the closet looked like this:

Probably a quarter of what I started with, with plenty of space to sperate work from casual wear. And my happy hubby? He now has the same amount of space on the opposite side of the closet. Amazing. : )

I have the title of this post going round in my head like the reproduction song from Grease too.
And destroying things has been my thing for today - I have several items of clothing whcih have gotten a bit scruffy. So I cut two of the t’shirts up so I can use the material for a project I have in mind. I also pulled out a pair of sparkly black trousers which I love but which I’ve not been able to wear for years (too small for me). Cut those up too and I think if I do the same to another part of old trousers I’ll have enough material to make a cover for the new V pillow I bought today. I was thinking of kniting one and I might anyway.
But sometimes it’s fun to destroy something, and that it definitely was today.
