Hello, what’s inside?

More boxes!

When I was a kid, my family hosted a Japanese exchange student, who made me a series of nested origami boxes that I kept for years. She was able to make them down to a tiny enough size that I could fit a rice grain in the smallest box!

I couldn’t accurately make any smaller than the size seen here, which would fit a quarter coin.

I posted this once but I don’t see it. I hope it doesn’t show up twice! I’m not used to using WordPress.I didn’t get anything made yesterday. By the time I had a chance to slow down and do something I was too tired to even think about it!I have another altered matchbox due in the mail tomorrow, so that was today’s project. Unfortunately the lighting in here in the evenings is terrible for pictures, so once again I don’t have any. I will have pictures of whatever I decide to do tomorrow, though, I promise! I don’t know yet what that will be, but I have a couple of ideas.

I started making boxes out of Christmas cards in January and really enjoyed the zen of the process. I’ve been wanting to use some of my enormous stash of cloth (old clothes and scraps) to lessen my clutter load. I made beads from an old dress and today attached them to a box made from card stock. Voila! All I need now is a gift to go inside.

I didn’t even really finish this - it needs some, er, finishing. Another layer of paint, some sort of coating on the picture.
Appropriately enough, I chose to start this project with the Fool from the tarot, to mark the beginning of a journey:

Collage number one… The ALL Seeing EYE…This one started with the bottle cap & the glass bead… seemed like an eye to me. And then I started playing. It’s made of colored pencils, candy wrappers, paint, string, sparkly stuff. I thought it was fun to do… Hard part is stopping
I’m trying to think inside the box for a change. I have a habit of turning all kinds of things in to art projects, I thought it might be fun to challenge myself & try and stick to a square format. I hope they don’t get boring.
