I had hoped to have this finished for this final day post. However, the other things I did cut into the time spent on this project this month. This is an afghan crocheted in a ‘filet’ or net form. (if you look, you can see some of the colors in the lower layers peeking through the holes in the net looking like bad shadows in the picture). The plan is to weave yarn through the net in the same black and red pattern as the horizontal to turn it into my family name’s tartan pattern.
All I was able to do today was to get the yellow cross weave in.

i’m really bad about finishing things like weaving in loose ends for knitting and hemming for sewing (that’s why tshirts are ideal for me—because they will just roll, don’t have to be hemmed). today, i finished 2 scarves that i made last year and have been wearing, but never wove in the loose ends. i finally did that today and also added fringe to the blue one.

both scarves were knitted using a combination of lion brand fun fur and moda dea dream (both are available at michael’s). they were knitted in garter stitch and every 3-4 rows, i wrapped one to so that some rows are longer/have more space.

Just like the aviator, my painter’s career was stifled at an early age. But, rather than place the sheep in a box, I chose to make a pompom one instead. He looks quite healthy and like he might live a long life, but based on his size he probably will need a lot of grass. Maybe I should have gone with the box….

The instructions and template for face and feet are from dadcando.com

Quickly whipped these stitch markers up. These were the last of my snowflake beads. Sad to see them go. I won’t be able to purchase any stone beads for a while because of money issue. Until then I will be using my glass beads that I seem to have an abundance in. I do still have stone beads but I would like to replenish the ones that have been used all up.

experimenting with an ir filter:

i don’t think i entirely know what i’m doing, so i’ll probably read up on ir filters a little more, ask around, and practice some more. but i thought it was kind of cool/funky-looking… the photo came out too dark, so i adjusted it a little and added a little bit of a vignette that i thought helped the composition of the image.

I saw these little stones at the bead shop yesterday and just had to have them. The colors are amazing!
If this set sells, I’m making one for myself, lol.

Didn’t someone say “pink” is the new “black”? Moi disagrees of course. Pink should be saved for girls under the age of 10 and for flowers. However, the two make a nice combo (with a hint of yellow).

I have some Tupperware and “Deli” containers that are roughly the shape of Bento Lunch Boxes. But, they are just random containers unless you have something to hold them together in a stack. So, I made some straps from black elastic and added some felt decoration to cover the seam.

Since I lounged around the apartment all of yesterday, I decided to go on a wandering adventure around lower manhattan. What I originally planned to be an hour or so stroll, became a three and a half hour escapade. I visited crowded little shops in Chinatown, passed through an area I will call “the lingerie, hat & suit district”, and browsed through an array of little antiques strewn over tables at the corner of (i think) bowery and houston. And four hours after arriving back to my apartment, I am finished with ONE article I need to read for class. I thought I needed a break so, here is my next little project: A real VALENTINE’S CARD! It’s not finished yet, but that will happen tomorrow.

Whew! I cannot believe I have made it to day three!!! I created a Gothic Lovie:

I also started a Princess Lovie:

For the rest of the month I will NOT be focusing on Lovies *smiles* My husband said he doesn’t like them because of how folksy they look. Ummm, they are naive art and they are supposed to look folksy, but he got to me. I am going to put my attention back into my normal sort of creations like clothing and housewares *smiles*
Thanks for the challenge — it keeps me in line!!!!

I made aprons for my daughter and daughter-in-law for Christmas and decided I deserved one for myself. Here is the result.
Front

And Back - this makes it look like there are really big pockets on the rear end - they really are on the hips - it is just tied tight to stay on the hanger.

This is a little stencil I created on Photoshop in about 20 minutes. This isn’t exactly the cleanest stencil, but it’s a pretty interesting one. I got the idea from then new Futurama movie, “Bender’s Big Score.” This was the Hanukkah Zombie’s Ti Fighter.
