Today’s things are three sketches of sun conures inspired by an LJ friend. A sun conure is a small parrot that’s actually kind of like having a dog with feathers. They are extremely smart and extremely loud, and not for everyone.

Things 15 & 16
I forgot to post yesterday, but I also forgot to make something
so, today I doubled my “thing” (actually 4 things). I made my bird postcards for swap-bot. I used a picture I took when I went to Australia with People-to-People a few years ago. We went to Australia Zoo (the Crocodile Hunter’s zoo!). It’s a really great zoo. I got a shot of a pair of Kookaburras sitting together on a low branch: Tik and Tok. They must have clipped wings, cause I got up really close, and they didn’t budge. Used to people too, I guess. I’ll put the shot up on flickr.
day 15– two birds, one stone OR chocolate cupcakes with rapberry filling.
it’s week three of thingaday and i have a new theme, “flora and fauna” (although i’m thinking things will more than likely fall heavily onto the “fauna” side of things.)
these cupcakes actually *are* dual purpose. not only are they for thingaday but i also made a bunch of them (most not pictured) to thank people who had voted for me in a local blog competition i’m entered in. wanna vote too? click here, go to the second grey box and click “glitter pissing”. many thanks for your effort if you do!
Tweet Tweet Bird Stamp
Today I was inspired to try carving again. And why not try with one of my favorite animals. Here is my carved bird. I love the orange ink and pairing them on my one card. Tweet tweet and happy day to all!

Greetings From Fruitvale
Quick Grey Heron from an old national geographic I found in the dentist’s waiting room:
after I broke out from dentist I had about an hour and a half to kill in the east bay. So, naturally, I decided to wander along the railroad tracks with a camera in a dishevelled little town called Fruitvale. I got some exercise, a busted knee and some seriously amateur photos to show for it:

Watercolor on Paper - Peace
Sometimes life gets hectic. You just got to breathe and think of a word that will calm you down. For me that word is “peace”. For this second day of Thing-a-day I worked with my mantra because I was getting a bit edgy about what life may or may not have in store for me. Watercolor, paper, and ink… such fun mediums. Drawing the side doodles I was thinking of all the mingled thoughts and unknows and the power peace is making things clear, like a sky for birds to fly. xoxo Becca
