Phew!

This is dated the 29th, but it is actually my thing for the 28th (it was just after midnight when I put the date in I guess). We get one more last one tomorrow.

The rare lost poster artwork from the 1972 Bollywood remake of Masculin Féminin.

I created a short visit to Outpost for the express purpose of making this drawing, but the soy latte was a pretty sweet bonus. And I’ll take pretty much any excuse to visit Outpost.

As drawn by the left. I can’t remember ever drawing with my left hand before. It’s kind of creepy and I kind of want to do more of it.

Just a little old-fashioned something for today.

A portrait of one of my favorite wordsmiths and thinkers, J. M. Coetzee. I’ve been loving his writing even more than usual lately.

Why do I do things like this to myself? A ridiculously cluttered mess of a desk, a mirror (and thus a dreaded self-portrait), and a picture of the picture inside itself?! Yes, the one bottle of potato vodka appears no less than four times here. (I am not historically much of a vodka fan, but I basically can’t resist any potato product.) I was going to color this more, but geez, not tonight; took too much out of me already. (This is a similar view to one I did for Thing-a-Day 2007).

I drew a bunch of self-portraits, none of which (as usual) looked a thing like me. So I layered and sliced five of them in Photoshop to get this result, which maybe does look a little like me. I’m not sure I like it, but whatever, gotta create a thing today!

For February 7th, I created a trip to go get a haircut. Here’s some sketches I did along the way:

I continued my absolutely delicious trend of getting things cleaned up. Today I cleared all the junk out of my car and put down some much-needed new floor mats:

Today I created a flyer to advertise the upcoming shows for my band, Pirate Satellite. We’re playing February 12th at Trash Bar in Williamsburg (with The Full Sign) and March 27th at The Delancey on the Lower East Side (with Baby Teardrops).
