Tonight I worked on seven artist trading cards (ATCs). I finished only one — enough that I feel OK posting about them as my thing-a-day, but not enough to warrant a photo. So, hopefully I’ll wake up early enough in the morning to finish 3-6 more and get a scan attached to this post. They’re paper collage with added layers of pigment, hand-drawing/lettering, fabric and embellishments.
Update: Adhesives are all dry, I did a bit of embossing atop some of them and here they are (click the image for a close-up):

OK, I seem to have badgers on the brain lately
Maybe I made this one look too friendly! A while ago I cut some ATC sized cards and coloured a solid background with Prismacolor markers. The time was right for this purple one - and I think gray was the colour to match with it.

I’m very good at losing things. Too good, in fact. I often leave things in the most obvious place and then wonder where they went! Such was the case with Thursday’s ACEO, a little green parrot. I just found him this morning after looking all over for him. I don’t why I can forget where something went in such a short period of time! This ATC/ACEO is made from chalk pastel for the background and watercolour crayons for the rest. I’ve had these crayons forever, and figured this was a good time to try them out. The package says to make short, hard strokes. Not much happened when I wet the crayon areas though! I probably have to blend a lot more and use different colours.

I’m a little behind on scanning and picture taking as I was volunteering and I had class on Wednesday! This is a little ACEO made from some Swedish, US and Canadian stamps. It’s so rare to get stamps these days, and it was something I always enjoyed collecting when I was younger.

For today I worked on 3 Valentine ATCs for a trade. We are trying to save money for a new geothermal heating and cooling system so I am really trying to use things I already have and NOT buy the cute valentine things I see in the stores right now. This one is just made from card stock and magazine pictures. One says “why I love” one says “inspiration” and one say “shared love”. Great fun to do and I love ATCs because they are small so it is a project I can complete in one sitting. With 2 boys at home that is not always an easy task. http://gentlegull.blogspot.com/2008/02/thing-day-3.html

I have been thinking about what I want to work on this month, and it seems like it will have to be a bit of a balance to both finish a thing a day and working in a few larger projects.
Currently on the (knitting) needles I have:
*a sport weight pair of socks
*a Gryffindor pair of socks in fingerweight
*China Doll baby sweater (1 year)
I also have a sampler blanket of crocheted squares that I am working on that I hope to get quite a few squares this month.
The balance of the days this month though I am thinking that I will working on sketches and ATCs. Thybeli made a great suggestion about making some bookmarks that I am thinking of too.
So many ideas! I can’t wait to get started.
