Day 10
For day ten I worked on some more quilt blocks. At this point I have 14 of the 48 blocks done. I also ironed and trimmed all of the blocks that I had sewn. Here’s the link….
In few words: I'm a 25 year old married to a wonderful man in the USAF. Currently we're stationed in Delaware. I've been working on artsy stuff for what seems to be forever. I mainly work on jewelry but I'm starting to get back into my painting and drawing. In addition I've just started working with fabrics since I received a sewing machine for Christmas.

I feel bad about not posting the past couple of days but I’ve actually been hard at work! Day 7 I was looking through books to learn about quilting. I finally found an idea that I thought I’d be able to manage since I’m reasonably new at sewing. Then yesterday -day 8- I went out and bought fabric for my quilt (or at least most of the fabric). I also cut all of the fabric into rectangles. Which brings me to my work today. This morning after getting off from my night shift I cut all of my stacked rectangles into 7 curved pieces. Then this evening I sewed up 6 of the 48 blocks for the quilt. For my first time doing this (and for the first time ever sewing curved seams) I think I did fairly well. I still have to trim the blocks to the required sizes but that should be the easy part. So here it is…. the link to my photo of my first quilting blocks!
This is a painting that I’ve been working on for quite a while. I worked on it a bit more today but I’m not sure that I’m actually completely finished with it yet. Also this is the first time that I’ve tried to use flickr so hopefully it works! Please visit the painting here- http://flickr.com/photos/triquetradesigns/2245966717/
Well, I was going to take a picture but the I’m having trouble uploading anything right now. However, for today I wound up sewing new uniform stripes on my husband’s dress uniform. Not what I planned on sewing but he told me at the last minute that it needed to be done so I took care of it…. hopefully tomorrow will be a little bit better for uploading and for being creative.
Here’s my offering for Day 4. I cheated slightly- I found this piece of canvas board that I had laid down a couple layers of paint on years ago. So instead of making something completely new, I decided to finish the painting. It’s a mixed media piece done with blue, green and black acrylic with metal washers on a piece of canvas board measuring 5″ by 7.25″. I’ve included two pictures of it- the color is almost as dark as the first image. However I wanted to show you the texture that I used so the lighter image is also here. Hope you enjoy!
For my first ‘thing-a-day’ I made my first ever fiber necklace. It’s made out of 9 strands of blue Moda-Dea Dream yarn, braided together with blue glass pony beads. And I finished it off with silver plated findings. To see a larger picture and other views just check out my Etsy store.
Looking forward to the beginning tomorrow. Since I’m a night person (I work grave shift) I might just make something late tonight for my first item…. ![]()
