Day 22: Light box

I made a light box today, following the instructions found on this website:

http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html

And used it to take these pictures of this altoid tin album I made (which also could have counted for my item today!)

Day 21: Necklaces

I’ve been making these just for fun, with no intent to put them in my Etsy store.

They’re totally addicting though!  So I’ve been wearing a different one every day this week!

Day 20: “To Do Jar”

I filled up this little jar with pieces of paper on it, and they all had something written on it. I had my girls take turns pulling one out, and we did both fun things and jobs, and had a great time

Day 18: Easter cards

I made these cute little Easter cards today, and if no one buys them, I’m just going to use them myself:)

I used a 3-d sticker for the focal point, and added brads and fun colored paper to make them pop.

Thanks for lookin’!easter2.jpg

Day 15, 16, 17 Paperbag album

On each of these days I was working on a paper bag album for a customer.

You can see an example here if you’d like.

She emailed me her pictures, and I put them in for her too.

You can see how to make one of these cool albums here:

Day 12,13,14

No picture proof I’m afraid, but I finished up all 50 birthday invitations I was making for a local lady.

And then today, I made heart cookies with my girls.  Lots of fun!

Day 11: Whole Wheat Bread

About a year ago, my husband decided to eat more naturally.  Over the course of the year, he’s cut out all high-fructose corn syrup, white flour and sugar, transfats and fried foods.  And looks great for it too!  (there are always exceptions for holidays, nights out to dinner, etc, but he mostly sticks to it!)

So, I’ve been making all our bread…100% all natural.

I don’t have any pictures this evening, but my house smells great, so I know I made it!

5 tsp yeast mixed with 2/3 cup warm water

1/2 cup oil

1/2 cup honey

1/2 cup dry milk mixed into 2 cups warm water

2 1/2 tsp salt

Combine all above ingredients.

Add 5 cups whole wheat flour ( I use my kitchen aid)

When that’s all mixed in, add about 2 more cups whole wheat flour…until it  “looks right” :)  and knead in the mixer for a couple of minutes.

Let rise for 1 hour.

Divide into two loaf pans and rise about 45 minutes.

Bake at 350 for 25 minutes uncovered, then cover with foil (to keep it from burning on top) and bake another 40 minutes.

This is one of the versions I did today.

Day 8: Party Invitation

I recently took some of my handmade cards into a local flower shop to sell.

The owner loved them, and asked me if I could also do invitations for her daughters beach-themed birthday party.

Here is the prototype I came up with that I’ll be taking to her tomorrow.

Day 7: Caramel popcorn

Nothing too exciting, but I went to a party at a friend’s house and took this to share.

It’s really easy too!

6 cups popped corn (duds removed..this is about half a batch from my air popper)

In microwave (I used 4 qt pyrex measuring bowl) for 2 minutes:

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 Tbs corn syrup (I substitute 2 tsp w/ molasass…gives it a darker flavor)

1/8 tsp salt

1/2 cup butter

Stir and microwave another 1-2 minutes until boiling.

Add 1/2 tsp baking soda.  Stir, and pour over popcorn.  Stir til coated.  Return to microwave (now covered popcorn) and microwave for 2 more minutes.  Stir again, and spread on foil until cool.

Crunchy and yummy!

Day 6: Decorated wood letters

These are so much fun to do…wood letters decorated with paint, paper, and other embellishments.

These particular letters are heading off to a blog to be be reviewed and featured.  I’m hoping it will bring some sales my way.  Wouldn’t that be cool?

Day 4: Monogrammed Cards

Well aren’t these just cute!

My “S” card

I made these cards with my initial on them for sending as “anytime” notes.

If I can get any of my siblings married off, maybe I can make some for wedding thank-you’s!
