For my ‘thing’ today, I added the pink “laces” and yellow buttons to this small 17 inch square quilt I made for this challenge. The saddle shoes are mine and they are some fifty-three or -four years old now… does that make them antiques or just collectibles? The phrase ‘hocks and who nows’ was my kidspeak way of echoing my mother’s command to “Get your socks and shoes now.”
Made a quick Thank You card. The petals were stitched with the sewing machine and colored pencils to add some detail.
Almost done with the thing for the day, I’ll be finishing it while watching the rest of the Oscars tonight on TV. It’s my fifth swatch for the month.
I knitted a swatch tonight (Irish Moss Stitch) while watching the news on TV. Tomorrow I plan to sew some beads around the top of this small vase I made.
I took the fabric from yesterday and made a simple eyeglass case for my reading glasses. Easy, simple, done!

Today, I ‘felted’ the bag I finished knitting yesterday. I decided to do it by hand in hot soapy water - it’s about 3 inches wide.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Today I made this postcard using recycled material - foil, ribbon, packaging plastic. After weaving the ribbon together, I stitched it onto a piece of packaging plastic. The packaging material is 1/4 inch thick, with lots of trapped air bubbles… worked great for giving the heart a quilted look. I wrapped the foil onto a scrap of poster board and stitched around the edges.
Put the “pieces” of previous thing-a-days into a quilted postcard that I’m sending to someone for their birthday.
I’m working on a monthly challenge: What are old enough to remember? and somehow I’ve come to an old pair of shoes of mine and a phrase I used as a child - hocks and who nows. I’m sure I was told to go get my ’socks and shoes now’ which I course I translated to kidspeak. I am not liking the palette - not at all, so I may just make this quick just to get it over with!
I’m working on a monthly project and I’ve started with this page in my sketchbook. Not sure where it goes from here… don’t love the colors.
I hadn’t planned to be making this many hearts - I seemed to have gotten myself into a rut. This one is four inches wide and I’ll be attaching it to a birthday postcard that I’m making.
