Working on a Mural

day-13-translation.jpgI’m working with a friend on a mural in her massage studio, so a few days ago I translated a few sanskrit words she wanted included in the mural into a devanagari script…day-18-mural-sketch.jpg Then today I began working on the layout of the boarder, script, and images for one of the walls. This is sort of a side project in between jobs, but I love doing things like this because I can add them to my portfolio in the end.

Business Card

day-12-business-card.jpgMade myself a much needed business card today. Already had the back designed, but I needed to sit down and finish a face for it. Pretty happy with how it turned out, just need to have it printed now and see how it looks at 2×3.5″

Trip to Lowes

day-111-turf-mat-line.jpgFound a stack of these turf mats in the outdoor garden section and made a single file line down the aisle for today, but I needed to make up for yesterday and another so I kept walking.day-112-shower-statue.jpgI found this lawn sculpture with all of the potted plants, so I brought it to the bathroom fixture section where it went so beautifully with this shower display.day-113-frog-fridge.jpg Lastly this great, disturbingly cute frog was left in a fridge in the kitchen department.

Three Minutes on My Head

day-9-timed-headstand.jpgDecided to push myself today and attempt a three minute inversion, supported only by my forearms on the crown of my head (sirshasana). I’ve never tried longer than about two minutes. Thought I would take the picture of myself in the posture, but when I got into  it I realized that wasn’t going to work at all, so instead you get to look at the stopwatch function on my cell phone I used to time myself. Another note… I ate Thai food half an hour before. Now my stomach is totally confused.

Positive Affirmations

day-8-positive-affirmations.jpgFelt like I needed a sense of direction right now, so I decided to write out what I want and tape it up on my closet doors. Even spending half an hour trying to be as specific and elaborate as possible sets my priorities and reminds me of my intentions. Time to get moving again.

Taught Myself How to Use a Snowblower

Random storm today dumped on our driveway and the shovel didn’t look that appealing. Got through half the driveway before my neighbor explained I had the choke left on…alright, I mostly taught myself how to use it, but I figured out how to turn it on. I felt uncomfortably domestic using this thing, very “king of my castle,” but it was kind of fun. Guilty pleasure, I’d rather not burn the gas, but just the once…cut the chore in half.

Transgendered Acquaintance

day5transgenderedfriend.jpgNot sure if this counts, but I met Erica here while waiting for a friend in the lobby of a local independent film theatre. She was waiting for  the screenings to start when I overheard a conversation about her standup comedy routine.

Chalkboard Illustration

Just another day on the job, ha. Was asked to come up with something for the new promo when I got into work, so I spent a good part of my shift sitting on the floor with chalk markers. Yay for being the “creative one” at work.

Rice Crispy Treat Snowman

Made this guy at work out of a stale crispy square. The eyes are java chips, arms are coffee stir stick, his smart looking hat is a 2% milk jug cap, and yes, that is a whipped cream snowdrift he’s standing in.

Built a sweet castle of books at Borders

This only fell down once when I was building it! Couldn’t leave it up though, felt like a jerk rearranging the store display, so they all went back into their original piles before I left.

Coffee Art

Coffee ArtAlright, this is slightly odder than what I was intending to do today, but once I noticed the stains on my coffee cup I couldn’t let this random composition go by. Each trail is this path of a drip rolling from the rim, and as disturbing as this might be to some, rest assured I DID wash the cup afterwards. I love the organic texture of the paths overlapping, reminds me of watercolor paint. So coffee art tends to be created BEFORE drinking the contents of the cup, I just happened to finish with my creation.
