Woo! I made it! Each of the past 3 days I spent some time working on finishing up these humongous, hideous slippers that will be felted. (My husband wanted these colors!) How apropos that I finally finished knitting this project tonight, the last night of Thing-A-Day.
I really hope they shrink down to a decent size. They are too ridiculous.
Yesterday I got an amazing new knitting book, New Pathways for Sock Knitters by Cat Bordhi, which blew my mind on every page. I knit a little practice Coriolis sock, which is like a regular baby bootie with a ribbed spiral going up the foot. Awesome.
Last Monday I went to knitting group and worked on my Icarus shawl. I got distracted and somehow made a mistake! I “fixed” it in a cheating way, but I think I’ll have to rip back and do it right. It’s in time-out right now while I work up the nerve. No photo because it’s not much to look at.
Today I went hiking with the hus-bot 9000X and our dog, and took some pictures. This one was my favorite.
Yesterday I knit some on one of the slippers that will get felted. The colors are horrible but my husband insists he’ll wear them anyway. I am making them out of leftovers from other projects, so the colors were never intended to be next to each other. But it’s good not to waste!
I forgot to post for a couple days! On 2/22 I went to knitting group and did a few more rows in this lace shawl.

Tonight I made a nice dinner. Vegan spanakopita, healthy salad, and at the edge of the picture you can see a chocolate-rum pudding cake. It was all very good!
I was a little sleep-deprived. I worked on the sole of the second slipper to be felted, and forgot to knit an entire row! Had to rip back to the very beginning and start over. I did get the whole sole finished in one sitting, though, and now this thing is somehow going to turn into the bottom of a slipper.
This may not look like much, but replacing the broken zipper pull on my jacket vastly improved my outdoor time.
Sometimes moving forward means moving back. Yesterday I had to undo almost an entire knit hat because suddenly it was clear that it would fit no human alive. Here’s the restart:
No photo today, but my thing was to make a spreadsheet of our month’s spending and compare it to our ideal budget. I kind of love spreadsheets and making it and analyzing our finances took me to the same brain zone that art projects do. So I say it counts!
Yesterday I didn’t make one finished item, but I worked on three of my four current knitting projects:
The blue thing is the Icarus shawl (very slow going); the fuzzy pink thing is a beret for stashbusting purposes; the small stripy thing is a sock (hanging out in its new dpn holder).
Today I finally finished some mix CDs for my friend. I forgot to take a picture of the CDs, but here is the box ready to send:
(My friend and I have been feeling the winter blahs, so we made mixes of happy songs for each other. I recommend this if you need cheering up; it works great!)
I’ve been out of the cooking habit for a while, so yesterday I got back into it with twice-baked potatoes, salad and pear slices.
Today I made a video of my dog limping to show to the vet. Nothing exciting, so I’m not putting it online, but the vet said she was glad I made it. The dog will probably be fine.
What did I finish yesterday? This pair of socks.
I will give them to my spouse for Valentine’s Day.
Yesterday I did the ribbing on this sock! Today I have to research the most elastic bind-off for it.
I finally found jeans that fit! Except they were too long. So I actually hemmed them.
