Freebie Sand Dollars
A man gave me a envelope full of sand dollars. I wanted to do something to remind me of his generosity. I made this pin to wear.

YUM for me

Blackened Scallops
20 ounces sea scallops
Cajun spice mix, recipe follows
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Heat a skillet over high heat. Dredge scallops in spices and saute on both sides. Finish the cooking in the oven, for about 4 or 5 minutes.
It is also wise to have all your windows open, and all your smoke alarms disconnected, considering the amount of smoke that this wonderful dish produces.
Cajun Spice Mix:
1/4 cup kosher salt
1/4 cup cayenne powder
1/4 cup paprika
1/4 cup garlic granules
1/4 cup black pepper
2 tablespoons onion granules
2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 tablespoons dried thyme
Mix well. Store in glass or plastic container with lid
Bacon wrapped Pineapple Shrimp
12 jumbo shrimp, deveined
1/4 fresh pineapple cut into bite sized chunks or 1 (14-ounce) can pineapple chunks in natural juice, drained
6 slices center-cut bacon, cut in 1/2 crosswise
12 wooden toothpicks
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Holding a shrimp, nest a chunk of pineapple in the natural curve of the shrimp then wrap bacon around the shrimp and pineapple and secure with a wooden toothpick. Wrap and secure all 12 shrimp then add to the hot pan and cook 3 minutes on each side or until bacon is crisp and shrimp are opaque and firm.

Cultural Dismay
As a child, I looked at books with pictures of the Acropolis, and statues of the Greek Gods. I didn’t know at the time I was going to enjoy the creative process, but I surely never believed I would have seen this art close up. I made it to Greece this last year. Making my way up the hill to the Acropolis the walls were sprayed with graffiti. Some of what is in this painting. When I visited the National Archaeological Museum the smell of urine lingered in the air. The museum itself was unkempt. Was I disappointed? A bit. Not in the art, but that a culture would not realize what they have is precious.

Dinner Companion
My sis and I took a drive down the PCH several months back. We stopped and ate at a restaurant on the beach. This bird decided to join us for dinner. Obviously, he had intruded on several of their patrons, because they had spray bottles on each table to shush the bird away with. I love birds, so I enjoyed it’s company.

Fernado Lives
I received Lola for Christmas from my Mom. I decided any pot with the name Lola should have herself a man. Soooo. Meet Fernado. I took sculpting clay to make his features. Happy Valentines Day everybody!

Bluebirds
I made these origami birds out of watercolour paper. I wet the paper before I started folding. I used clothes pins to secure them into the shape, and allowed to dry. I punched hole in either side of fold on wings to hang with. I then painted them with their first wash. Allowed to dry again. I punched holes along edges of wing and tales for decoration. Then painted eye, beak, and tips of wings. I used glue and clothes pins to secure in appropriate places.
