Day 10: Photography Practice
I bought a couple of photography books last week, so today I took a couple of hours to read them and try some of the exercises. Unfortunately it’s bitter cold and snowing outside today, so most of my practice shots were of lamps and chairs and boring things from my living room, but when I was practicing aperture adjustment I switched to these glass bottles, which I really enjoy.

Day 5: Lomo’ed Photos
I have a Diana+ camera, but I haven’t been able to get too many good photos out of it when it’s cloudy–which is to say, for about the past MONTH. I found this Photoshop tutorial that gives you a similar effect. I gave it a try on some old photos. Here’s one of my favorites; the rest are in a set on Flickr.

Day 4: Half a Hat
Actually it’s more like, 1/8th of a hat:

I also made a little flower for my dog’s collar, but that was poor planning on my part because she just tried to eat it.

Day 3: Cream Cheese Parmesan Dip
In honor of the Super Bowl, I tried out a recipe from one of my friends. It’s pretty informal, but it tastes amazing.
1 block cream cheese
1 package shredded parmesan cheese
1/2 onion, chopped (more or less to taste; I generally use more)
Let the cream cheese soften slightly and mix with the parmesan cheese. Bake in the oven at 300F 5 minutes; stir. Continue baking until browned at the edges. Sprinkle green onions over the top.
Serve warm with Wheat Thins.
It is hopefully going to be good enough to offset the fact that I don’t care about either of the teams playing tonight.

Day 2: Marble Magnets
I saw these on Not Martha and decided to give it a try. I am a compulsive magazine hoarder so this was the perfect project for me. I made about 35 magnets:

And 20 of those are in themed sets:

L to R: Black and White, Bright Colors, Clocks, and Pretty Pink Things.
So I’d say it was a successful second day. Hooray!

Crochet Cupcake.
I tried to follow the directions, but it didn’t turn out quite the way it should have. I guess it’s still cute. At any rate, it was a good way to start out the month because I’ve always wanted to make one and have never gotten around to it.
