juggling ball, fish, apple

Now I just have to learn how to juggle. (Also, I got this project from CRAFT magazine.)

I took a class this weekend on how to make a solar car for the Junior Solar Sprint! It is basically the new soapbox derby race and teams of students work together to make solar cars and then race them against each other. I’m a teacher for the project, so I got to spend a day trying out the ideas, concepts and exacto knives! This is what I came up with with my partner.

These are the gears and motor. I learned about gear ratios. I learned that I dont’ know how they work. But I will!

Today I did TWO things!
1.) I Voted!

2.) I taught a middle schooler about topographic maps using my knuckles. She thinks I’m crazy but she’ll never forget what a topo map is! (I never did anyway, and this is how I learned it!)

I couldn’t post these the other day…so here it is:
1.) A new knitting stitch I learned

2.) A spider plant cutting for my neighbor…Interesting Fact: my mother, who calls quesadillas cheese tortillas for some reason knows that spider plant in Spanish is called a “mala madre” plant, or “bad mother” because it throws all its babies overboard.

Today’s project was to make valentines…also we found these cool anatomy chart things so they rock.
“You’re the Breast”

“1. Skull and Contents” ” You’re in my head. You’re on my brain. You’re so far away.”

“I miss you as much as these dinosaurs are dead…very much so.”

Ok, so I really did do this yesterday, I just didn’t get a chance to photograph etc. So I took this ultra huge sweatshirt and cut it and sewed it and cut it and sewed it and un-sewed it and re-sewed it…and it still looks really lame. Any suggestions? I like the graphic, so I want to make it cool…but I’m struggling. Enjoy anyways.
