Nothing too exciting, but today I made Facebook event pages for my craft group, Handmade Detroit:
In few words: I'm a crafty/bloggy gal in metro Detroit. I help plan the Detroit Urban Craft Fair and help run Handmade Detroit.
Nothing too exciting, but today I made Facebook event pages for my craft group, Handmade Detroit:
Thanks to a great recipe from Martha Stewart, I made a batch of old-fashioned sugar cookies on some new baking boards I purchased. Her recipe calls for lemon juice and lemon zest, but I removed those two ingredients since I’m not always the biggest lemon fan. Added some St. Patrick’s Day candies on top for fun. Not too bad!
I guess I’m a fan…
During the Oscars last night, I made this project with some leftover pegboard and the Tiffany Blue Boxes I’ve been saving for a few years. I didn’t have the heart to throw them away, but I also didn’t have the heart to give them with gifts, either. What do you do when this happens? Make some damn art. This is a technique I cam up with for a housewarming gift, and it worked well here, just on a larger scale with the boxes.
I like pop art. I think it shows…
I made my own transfers today for some cute towels I found on clearance at the store. I traced a shamrock cookie cutter for the perfect embroidery guide. Photo to come.

Valentine’s Day is almost here! I made a batch of cupcake for work, complete with handmade toppers.
I’ll admit that I’m pretty much a cat lady. So when last year’s pet food scare made me totally freaked to feed my cat anything, I began to pay close attention to labels on everything I gave my cat. This includes toys. I found it impossible to find toys that weren’t mass manufactured somewhere far away. So today’s thing was a pile of catnip squares made out of fabric scraps I had lying around the house. I’ll add pictures tomorrow once I find more batteries for my camera.
For Valentine’s Day for my mom, aunt and a co-worker, I took some clearance dish towels and embroidered them with big kissy lips courtesy of Jenny Hart’s Sublime Stitching patterns.
Of course, as my flu meds come to an end, I wrapped all three towels before taking a picture of them for this post. Classic! But trust me, they were cute.
Where were my things these days? Nowhere. Unless you call making germs a thing, I was in bed with the flu. But back to making!
Nothing super exciting to make today, as I got stuck in a snowy traffic jam coming home from work. So instead of spending time on some projects I’ve started, I experimented with some tofu for dinner. Pretty easy- just a touch of oil for my skillet, some herbs for seasoning, and firm lite tofu sliced into strips. Couple of minutes on both sides, flipped twice, and poof!, dinner!
Hopefully the snow will calm down and I’ll have more time to make tomorrow!

I made a pin for “Go Red for Women” month. I wanted to support the cause somehow, but didn’t like some of the items available to me to buy. Just hard felt, a foam heart and a pinback!

Continuing my “I need to decorate my apartment for Valentine’s Day” theme, I created this wreath by using a chipboard frame and adding Martha Stewart papercraft stickers. I loved the envelopes, and I think it worked out pretty well for my front door.

I found these pink playing cards this morning at the grocery store, very unexpectedly. I picked up a pack, thinking I could make something with them today, and I did- Valentine’s Day garland for my apartment!

I picked up this large casserole Pyrex dish from my local thrift store, but due to some stains I can’t get out, it’s not in the best shape for my collection. When that happens, a piece of Pyrex like this is destined to be added to my craft closet!
I used this to help organize my current paper projects. Everything I need for this batch of crafts is housed in one casserole dish- who knew!
