Day 3: Kind of a flop

I had bigger plans for the day but church wore me out and the sky was gray.  I napped instead.  So all I had time for was a little project with my 5-year-old daughter.  Since they talked about Mother Earth today in their RE (religious education) class, we talked about ways we could take care of the Earth.  When our plans to go pick up litter with Keep Horn Lake Beautiful bombed because of rain, we decided to do an indoor Earth project.

We took a couple pine cones, crunchy peanut butter, and bird seed, and made some natural bird feeders.  As if the birds around our apartment aren’t fat enough:

More tomorrow, because guess what??  I’m starting a beginner’s crochet class tomorrow night!

Day 2 Part B: The fam gets creative

After a massive fit in Hastings, making me want to melt into the floor, my son and I both took a nice nap and afterwards the entire family got crafty.

Jeremy (hubby, aka Bill - don’t get confused) made chili for the first time ever. This surprises me, because he always cooks, so I would have thought he’d have whipped up some chili before.

It was awesome, by the way. The kids and I painted glass “stones” which is WAY more difficult than I thought. Because you’re painting on the bottom and viewing from the top, all the foreground has to go on first, and then the background. It takes some getting used to, and I really want to keep at these… it was calming and I enjoyed myself. I think I could get good at it. Not sure what I’ll do with them just yet.

I’ve joined the group on Flickr also, and wish more people would! I will be uploading my photos to that group as well. Here are my two rocks for the evening:

So that’s it for tonight, see you tomorrow!

Girl, Disconnected

Okay, here’s the thing. I MySpace. I don’t WordPress… I’m tragically unhip. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get the text in this thing to wrap around the pictures right; I’m used to the idiot-proof myspace blog format. My last post? DAMN it looked so much better before I clicked “publish”. Grr…

Anyway, all apologies for that. Here’s my Thing for Day 2. Yes, it’s after midnight here, so I can post another already if I want to!

My Day Two Thing will last for the rest of the month. It is the utmost in commitment to creativity, at least for me. I have sworn off MySpace and Facebook for the rest of February. *gasp* - no, really, this is a big deal for me. There are a few people in my life that don’t believe I can do it. But I am vowing to spend that time towards something more creative than myspacing.

So here is Raisin Girl, going incognito. Let’s hope no one freaks out too much when they wake up in the morning and realize I’m not getting online for a whole 28 days! :P

It’s a start!

Well February is finally here. You would have thought my first “daily thing” would have been so much better, since I’ve been so excited to get started. I just had to get organized for it! So I cleaned and rearranged my office for my first Thing. I know cleaning is not necessarily creative, but I felt pretty creative and inspired when I tackled this, and my Thing-a-Day Accountabilibuddy says it counts, haha. It was no minor feat - I stayed for 3 hours after work to finish:

After:

So okay, I know some of you are thinking the arrangement of office/drawer stuff does not = Daily Thing. Behold, this was journaled after midnight last night, so technically on Feb. 1st:

And there are two full pages in addition but I didn’t realize when I took the pic that the words showed up so clearly! *blushes* Anyway, that’s just a little brainstorming for ya.

And you know what?:

(And right behind my “start” lies Amanda’s on screen! Yay us!)

Now I am refreshed, ORGANIZED, and ready for Day Two!
