we are dreamers.

a friend of mine left her journal at my house so i added a couple of things to her wonderful collection of thoughts and drawings and meditations (she permitted me to read it, so it’s okay).

i gave her a quote that inspired my thing-a-day name, and i will share it with you too:

You are an infinite event. You think you end here, at your skin? You think this is you? You think you will be reincarnated? No. You are an event stretching out, out, out. You are an event without end. Isn’t that beautiful?

room without a view

sewed on loops and installed hooks in the wall to secure a futon against the wall in our spare room/aspiring studio. used the extra hooks to hold a curtain rod for some temporary curtains for the closet.

working with a tiny space and ugly wood paneling is annoying, and it’s hard to fully commit to transforming a rented place. maybe it’s just an excuse though. i wish i made things with real love and care, took time to work on them and make them beautiful. but instead i’m lazy and sloppy. still, it feels good to try.

i gets it.

Learning Ruby using “Learn to Program” by Chris Pine. Serious baby steps, but just doing the exercises feels pretty awesome. An example of a super simple program where the computer asks you your favorite number and then suggests a slightly improved alternative :)

the thing-a-day diet

Oh man, I keep getting distracted from doing things by fun people and events. Finished a mix for a friend, and I’m hoping the playlist and cover design could count for 2 different “things”. I know it’s cheating…but it’s better than giving up!
recycled materials: stickers from an old planner, bicycle map

less crap more craft

yesterday was graduation and with all the celebratory festivities, i didn’t get a chance to create my first thing! today i made a cozy for an iPod (graduation gift from my brother) using my new vintage singer (graduation gift from myself!)

it’s ugly and simple, but it’s my first sewing project in a long long time, and first ever with this machine. hopefully this month it’ll see lots of action!

cozy made out of thrift store pants & button rescued from an ugly shirt.

singer is a 201-2 model, i think from 1951.
