Thing-a-day.com

OK it is the last day of February, my last “thing a day”. It has been a wonderfully creative month, a kick in the butt to be more creative every day, and look at the things that I do on a daily basis with fresh eyes. Can’t wait until next February.
For today I worked on Mandala ATCs for an upcoming trade. This was difficult for me. I had nothing but a circle to start with and no inspiration. But I did manage to create 6. Here they are:

So close to the end. I am knitting a shrug which is a little bigger project and will probably take me a couple more days. I was hoping to have it done to show as a “thing of the day” but don’t think I will make it in time. Today I made some earrings. I have a few loose larger beads that are “left overs” from other projects, so I am working them into earrings.

Today was quick and easy.  I had some left over crochet cotton and I needed some more dishcloths, so I made some. 

Today I finished up the socks I was working on.  These have stripes.  I thought they were cute and fun.

Well I almost have another pair of socks finished, working on the toe on the last sock right now. But I need to post my thing for the day by noon, ’cause I never know what the rest of the day will bring. So today I am posting three ATC magnets I created. This is for a magnet trade I am participating in.

OK more socks.  But today I added cables down the leg of the socks for a cute look.

I am having fun making socks this winter. These socks are a wool blend so are washable and really comfy. I am working on a pair of socks for tomorrow’s thing as well but these have cables in the body of the sock so they are looking pretty cool right now. We will see how they turn out.

Today I made Soul Collage Cards, finished two. The first is for Peace and the second is for Wisdom.

I have to admit the Thing for Today was not made completely today. I had most of it done a couple of weeks ago, but put the finishing touches on it today and took the picture today. This is one of my favorites. I am hoping to get it on my etsy site soon. It is so soft, and thick, and I made it long enough to wrap around your neck a couple of times, with really cute fringe on the ends.

This thing almost didn’t get posted. We have company at the house, and have just been busy. Am going out to do Soul Collage cards tonight so eeked out a couple of minutes to post my socks. They have actually taken me two days to complete but are finished now, and happily residing with a friend. Are they gorgeous. I may have to knit another pair, I love the colors, they remind me of ocean waves and are so soft.

Today I made a simple pair of earrings.  Sterling silver, think I will wear them to park day today.  Working on a pair of socks but those are not finished yet, maybe tomorrow.

OK for today I altered something already in existance, LOL. A shirt my friend had, she wanted a dress, so she picked out some bright yellow fabric I had in my stash and I made a dress out of her shirt. I took a picture of the front but in the back is a cute little bow, her mom told me the shirt was a little big around on her so with the bow in the back it can be adjusted. I think it came out cute. When she tries it on I will have at least one more picture for you.

Day 17. It is funny how much I do each day, baking is almost a constant. Every day I bake or cook something so I always have that to fall back on as my creation of the day. Yesterday I spent some time with a friend and made a bag for her daughter, one of the coolest girls I know. It came out lovely and exactly the way she wanted. It does have a few pockets inside, has about a 2 inch gusset, and will hold her treasures. Seems the bag she had was not big enough to hold everything she holds dear.

I made it before the end of the day.  Finished up a pair of socks I was working on.  100% wool, a little thinner yarn so smaller needles and smaller knit stitches, very warm and cozy.

Today I made a bag out of bags. I picked up the idea from Iggy Jingles Blog and she had a link to the instructions on Gooseflesh blog. Since I have an overabundance of those plastic grocery bags at home, just waiting for some useful purpose, this was perfect. You know I hate to throw these things away, there has to be something to do with piles and piles of plastic grocery bags. I know many people use fabric bags but I shop for a month at a time and have no where near the amount of fabric bags it would take to do that. LOL.
Anyway back to my thing a day. Making the strips of plastic was easy, crocheting with it a bit more difficult than yarn BUT certainly still easy. The bag is a bit stretchy because of the plastic but certianly durable. Thinking it would be great for the beach. May have to make a few more of these.

Today I am working on a few projects. None complete, so my thing a day is pancakes that I made for the kids that spent the night with my boys last night. They all seem to like pancakes so it goes over well.

OK so for today I made a couple pair of earrings, am working on another pair of socks but they are not finished yet. Will save those for another day. Wanted a couple pair of cute earrings to wear out so I made them. The first is made from swarovski crystals, the second is from polished rock and quartz beads. Love both pair, now to decide which ones to wear today. Maybe one of each. Taking a clear picture of jewelry is difficult, LOL.

I guess I am in a “yarn” mood lately, or maybe it is just because it is chilly here so I want to make soft, cuddly things. Today I made a scarf. Came out cute. Knit with a basket weave pattern and fringe on the ends. Really soft, really warm, great for these chilly days.

OK this isn’t something new, I knitted the bag a while ago from the beautiful yarn my husband picked out for me for Christmas. I love the yarn, love him for picking it out especially for me. I have been hesitant to felt the bag, although I made it large because I wanted to try my hand at felting.
So that is my thing for today. The bag is felted. I am not sure that it is done though. I would like to find a fabulous piece of fabric from my stash for a lining. Find just the right closure for the bag and maybe felt the strap a bit more. It still has a bit more “stretch” to it than I would like. But here it is….my fabulous felted bag…..

OK today I finished up a pair of socks I started yesterday. Pretty cute, really cozy and warm and oh so soft. Gotta love em.
