Greetings Commrades! Thanks to you all for the fun of this month! I have loved doing this, and thanks to Michelle for the idea/link to TAD! It’s been great for the FLOW.
Following on yesterday’s theme, Russian poster style mashup with aquatic life…
i like russian poster style, and lately i’ve been wanting to draw a giant squid, because someone at work had a cool sweatshirt with some on it. but i opted for an octopus, and decided to mash it up with the russian poster thing. i’m not sure if the green takes away from the russian feeling, but i like the result anyway. long live the sharpie! i also like that octopusses have so many legs, and the russian text on the drawing translates into “Our strengths are uncountable.”
today i was super-busy. work was long and very active, and then i went to see Hairspray, which was kind of unexpectedly a breath of fresh air. the subway took a while to get me home and now i present my montage. enjoy!
Twoday I made 2 things. The first was with oil and vinegar, and the 2nd was with some nuts or seedpods I found… I made a pattern with them, and they’re really beautiful.
Tonight I made an instrument - it has a sweet little unsophisticated sound that you can hear here. I used one of those old AOL CD mailers and a stick along with some picture hanging nylon twine and some scraps i had around. i had those red wooden pegs too. I enjoyed this one!
i was just thinking that i was inspired by ranjit! and just as i posted this - his looks very similar! but sounds way way cool. thanks ranjit!
This image comes from the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Durer). It was conceived to be a 4 color separation using 4 stencils. Well it turned out that i only had silver and bronze spray paint when i went to view my handiwork, so the effect is rather… odd… anyway, i think it holds some promise, for when i have some other colors and with a little refinement. i’d been working on the stencils over a few days, and was excited to make my proof today… alas, it was not as exciting as it could have been with more colors.
This little aluminum wire man does Tree Pose (Vrksasana) all day long. He even balances all on his own.
He’s standing on the Buddha for good measure. And his form isn’t so good…
Aluminum wire is now officially my least favorite wire. It just breaks a ton, doesn’t have nice bend properties, dirties the hands. That must be why I had some left over & sitting around… this guy is light on his foot though.
