Yes, I do like that hat

From Go, Dog, Go.  This is my first cabling project.  I think it turned out nicely.  Cables are fun!

Earrings

Made these earrings the other day.  I have some felted beads from our local yarn shop and couldn’t decide what to do with them.  They are fun to wear.

Gift Card

gift-card.JPG

I’m catching up on posts.  Been making my thing, but not photographing them and posting them.  Bad me.

Today I made a card to include in my sister’s birthday package.  Design is from www.alittlehut.com.  She has great paper crafting templates.

I’m counting this a two things because I made the paper for the message inside.  That’s the blue paper in the photo.

Habitat Houses

habitat-houses.JPG

Yesterday our whole family made little houses.  They are part of Habitat for Humanity’s paper house campaign.  I’ll collect them and send them off to legislators to remind them of the importance of affordable housing.

Here’s the valentine I made for my dear, hard working husband.

Print making

card-making.JPG

A day behind again.  I got my feverish kids to make some valentines yesterday.  They pressed designs and messages into thin styrofoam and then printed it on paper.  Messy and fun.

Alumni Envelopes

envelopes.JPGToday I made envelopes out of pages from an old alumni magazine I never recycled.  I wonder if you can buy those peel and stick sealing things.

Junk Mail Valentines

hearts.JPG

I’m always trying to figure out how to use my junk mail.  www.Greendimes.com has saved me from receiving 91 catalogues in my mailbox, but I still get some magazines that I didn’t order and other garbage.  Today I made hearts out of the magazine covers.  I’ve declared war on junk mail.

Muffins a day late

muffins.JPG

I forgot to post yesterday.  I made blueberry muffins because the house was really cold.  The ones on the left are wheat/gluten, egg and dairy free (and flat).  The ones on the right only accommodate for nut, peanut, legume and corn allergeries.

Cables

I taught myself to knit cables today.  I’m so excited about the possibilities.  This will be the brim of a hat.

Baby Blanket

blanket-1.JPG

I’m done!  Weaving in the ends took the alloted time today.  This blanket has a whole long story both of the giving and the knitting, which is on my blog at www.lifelearningfamily.blogspot.com.  The giving part of the story is much more interesting than the knitting…

Red Silk Beads

red-beads.JPGI made these from the same leftover fabric as my valentine yesterday.  It was probably a 4 by 6 inch piece of silk that I cut into 1/2 inch strips, glued some scrap yarn onto and then rolled into beads.

My Sweet Valentine

valentine.JPGI was just going to make the ball of stripped fabric - silk from the front of an old shirt - and then I came up with the idea for the valentine.  Turning stripped fabric into balls creates a lot of waste, which I usually toss.  I figure it’s good to use the old shirt in knitting or weaving in the future, but didn’t give much thought to the scraps.  Then I came up with the idea for the valentine!  Even if I make an envelope for it, it should still be ok for mailing.

Marble Magnets

marble-magnets.JPG

Today I made some marble magnets out of 3/4 inch magnets, flat backed marbles and little buttons I printed.  I’d like to try making these from some of our photos with larger marbles, but couldn’t find magnets to match the larger marbles.

Cloth bead box

bead-box.JPG

I started making boxes out of Christmas cards in January and really enjoyed the zen of the process.  I’ve been wanting to use some of my enormous stash of cloth (old clothes and scraps) to lessen my clutter load.  I made beads from an old dress and today attached them to a box made from card stock.  Voila!  All I need now is a gift to go inside.

One small rabbit and one big one

2 rabbits

I made the paper rabbit from a template at www.paperboxworld.googlepages.com.  The live rabbit loves to eat paper, so we retrieved the paper one quickly!
