happy friday everyone. here are some love tanks.

In few words: hi. i'm davidson. i'm a graphic design student at VCU in richmond, and an avid photographer and vitamin water consumer. in my spare time i create mixed media collages and paintings. you can view my photography work here at my flickr page.
this is a lithograph i just finished. it’s an edition of 5. when drawing it, we had to use another artist as a reference, and i used basquiat. it’s 17″ x 30″, and the writing was hard to do since i had to draw everything backwards, but it was fun. i suggest trying out lithography if you have not done so yet.

this is a thank you card i did for my fiance’s sister (soon to be sister-in-law) for my xmas gifts i got from her. her family does secret santa, and she got me the following dvds:
terminator
the star wars trilogy (eps 4-6), you know, the good ones
diehard
airplane
you can’t top that. i handwrote a note on the back as well, which you all will not see because i’m cursed with horrible handwriting.
i got behind because i didn’t have internet access while i was out of town (i highly recommend visiting the island of ocracoke on the outer banks of north carolina)
i finished editing my time lapse video, and it took parts of three days, but i’ll claim it as two, for saturday and sunday. here are some stills from it:

and you can watch the actual video RIGHT HERE. the song is “welcome, ghosts” by explosions in the sky.
please let me know what you think.
sketches from our win, lose, or draw game tonight.
guess what the sketches are and win a free ham hoagie.

i got behind yesterday (fiance’s birthday) and didn’t get a chance to upload this, so this is my tuesday work.

i’m almost finished with today’s (the 13th) but won’t have it ready before midnight. oh wellz.
flier i did for my friend’z dj night. i kinda wanted to do another cut and paste collage, but didn’t have enough time today.

my laptop crashed 5 times while trying to save this thing, thus why i didn’t upload it before midnight. maybe i need more space. or MAYBE, it’s cause the ghost of Reagan didn’t want his image to be in this collage. sorry Ron. also, sorry i cut off your finger.

check it big, HERE
ok so i’m doing identity/business cards for a class, and eventually they’ll be for reals. i really like the idea of cards like these being interactive. so i created a sleeve for the card, with a window cut out to see the design inside. it’s a handcut chipboard sleeve and card, and i printed out the sticker/contact info myself. i had fun doing this.

see the whole thing up close and personal RIGHT HERE! at my flickr page.
i’ve got some free time tonight, so hopefully i’ll be able to catch up and do my 6th one as well.
old wrestling magazines are the best.

ok finally back on track. i felt really bad by posting my second submission this morning, so hopefully i’ll be able to stick to schedule from here on out.
these are our save the date cards! the pictures are from an old photobooth on this past new years eve. i designed them and printed them myself on really thick, nice cardstock. the color scheme of the reception will be black, white, and pink, so we put in pink envelope liners to start the theme, and plus i think they really add alot of pop to the cards. tomorrow they’ll all finally be mailed. i’m all about trying to save $$$$, and i think they turned out well. my fiance did all the addressing of the envelopes and she has beautiful handwriting, much better than i had remembered.

i can’t wait to get started on designing the actual invitations!
ugh i’m late on this, but i didn’t have a chance to upload it last night. it’s an image from my rooftop in downtown richmond, va. i’m doing a photography project involving stop-motion, and using this wall as a foreground/background, depending on the shots i’m doing.

you can see it full size HERE at my flickr page.
