Wow! It’s over! What a ride. I was not always really thrilled with my creations, but I did make something every day. Monday the 25th, I transformed some old shoes into fancy high-heeled slippers for my one-act play. I cut up a feather boa and ended up with feathers everywhere, but it worked!
Tuesday the 26th I created some voice-over tracks. Wednesday the 27th was a dramatic improv scene with Adam. Thursday I made a card for Jim’s 21st birthday. It turned out pretty nice. He seemed to like it anyway! Today I wrote a reflection on the month. Lame, I know, but I had to deliver a workshop in Flagstaff and travel back, so I’m exhausted!
All in all, it’s been a blast! I made some things I’d have never tried, found some new crafts I’d never even heard of before. It’s been fun! I’m gonna go for at least a thing-a-week from now on, and I’ll definitely do it again next year!

It’s been a busy week, so I haven’t taken the time to post, but I have been creating “stuff.” Let’s see… Tuesday I made another take-out box. Wednesday I did calligraphy on one of them.

Thursday I finished the round flower I’d started at our craft meet-up on Sunday.
Friday I worked on a crochet box I’m making. It’s gonna take longer than 2o minutes, for sure! I work on it when I find time to sit for a while.
Saturday I made the Dottee doll for my Swap-bot exchange. I used a fabric remnant I bought, then while I was poking around in my grandma’s old pedal sewing machine, I found a little drawstring bag with the lace, buttons, and “hair” pieces. I’m not sure what they were originally for, but I like them as the hair! I added the beading to make them fancier. I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out. I’d never made one before! I got so into doing it, I ended up making the second one after midnight, so I’m counting that as my thing for Sunday!

I made a Chinese box today. I downloaded a pattern from Mirkwood.
I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. I didn’t decorate it first, and I really should have. Now it’s a lot harder to draw on it, but I hadn’t decided what I wanted on it. I’ll be sure to decorate my next ones while they’re still flat!
Photos later this week.

I forgot to post yesterday, but I also forgot to make something
so, today I doubled my “thing” (actually 4 things). I made my bird postcards for swap-bot. I used a picture I took when I went to Australia with People-to-People a few years ago. We went to Australia Zoo (the Crocodile Hunter’s zoo!). It’s a really great zoo. I got a shot of a pair of Kookaburras sitting together on a low branch: Tik and Tok. They must have clipped wings, cause I got up really close, and they didn’t budge. Used to people too, I guess. I’ll put the shot up on flickr.

Today I’m creating another of my felt fortune cookies so I have a set to take to my writing critique group.
You can see the finished “cookies” on flickr. I found an old Valentine box to put them in and everyone drew their fortune. They loved it (although they might have liked chocolate more!).

Forgot to check in yesterday. Thursday is my late night class. I created a character yesterday! I have been cast in a one-act play to be performed in early March, so my continuing work will be to further develop my character

I made giant felt “fortune cookies” for valentine’s day that I found online. I’ll put up a photo tomorrow. They’re still drying and I don’t want to mess them up. I need to decide on the “fortunes” I’ll use too. I think I may find some favorite quotes instead of the usual cheesy fortunes.

I made a valentine card for my 5th grade “pencil pal.”I also made a mix cd for him. He is learning to play the guitar, so I made him a mix of my favorite guitarists. I also put a Super Bowl cap in his bag. I volunteered at the NFL Experience and they gave us a nice ball cap. I hope he likes it!

I forgot to post yesterday, but I did create something: an event! I hosted and ran the Shakespeare Competition for our region. Whew! I was whipped when it was over.

Today I created some certificates and “tickets” for our Shakespeare competition tomorrow. I spent quite some time getting it just right. Of course, graphic design is not my area, and I probably could’ve done it in half the time if I’d known what I was doing. It was still kinda fun, and I’m pleased with how they look.

I took apart a take-out carrier and made a box and painted it with watercolors today. No photo yet. I’ll put one up later. I’m pretty happy with it.

Today I tried fusing plastic bags. Mostly what I made was a mess! It sorta worked. I think the iron was too hot the first time. I ended up fusing the paper to the bags too. I’m not sure what I’m gonna make with my fused plastic, but I’ll think of something!

Late posting cause I was incommunicado yesterday. Busy day too, so all I had time to manage is a haiku. I’m not completely happy with it, but I did work on it.

Today I felted a sweater I bought at Goodwill. If it turns out, I want to make a purse out of it. I’ve never tried felting before, so it’s kind of an experiment. I took a before shot of the sweater and when it’s done, I’ll post that and the after.

I made a necklace with some beads and charms I bought and some from a necklace my son had that broke. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
My camera battery died, so I’ll post pics tomorrow for this and yesterday’s Temari ball. It actually looked better in the morning than it had when I was working on it late last night!

Today I made the base for a Japanese Temari ball. I’ll post a picture after I get the stitching done on it. It’s harder than it looks! Here’s the completed ball on flickr.

Today I etched a wine glass. Actually, I started with 2, but I didn’t have the right kind of etching liquid and I ruined the templates, so I had to go with one. I did “follow instructions,” but I should’ve read the labels too!

It worked for 1oo words a day, so I’m up for trying this!
Bring it on!
