All my creativity has been sucked dry, so now all I have is my Top Ten List (becasue it’s the tenth) of things that annoy me.
10. vending machines that don’t take my money
9. my boyfriend’s roommate-it’s a long story, culminating last night with proof that he “borrowed” my boyfriend’s car without his permission
8. newscasters who use the phrase “at the end of the day”
7. rhyming phrases like “you’ve got to walk the walk if you’re going to talk the talk” and “cruisin’ for a bruisin” and “in it to win it”
6. people asking me work questions when I’m on my lunch hour
5. cafeteria food-the hot stuff is cold, and the cold stuff is hot
4. people who use the word “irregardless”
3. peopel who use the word “myself” instead of “I” or “me”
2. Dr. Phil
1. the general stupidity of the American public, as shown by the fact that Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton continue to make movies that people go to see
Whew.

Finally, I get my drawing from two days ago up. This is my Victoria’s Secret bot, version 1. She’s just a prototype, that’s why she doesn’t look too happy.

I’ve hit the robot wall. My robots today suck. I’ve been trying to do this on my lunch break b/c I don’t have interwebs at home, but I don’t have the time. I need Plan C. Grr. Work is not a creative environment. Boo hiss.

Yesterday, I did my drawing, and when I went to post it Thing-a-Day was down. Now Thing-a-Day is up but my image hosting site is down. Bugger. No robot for today.

Day one, and I’ve got nine minutes of my lunch break left. I got my first robot portrait finished and scanned. Enjoy.

I’m still going to pick up trash, since I do that anyway, but I think I am going to draw as my daily thing. I’m going to do Robot Portraits. I did one of my friend Mark and it came out cute (I think). I may have it in a postable format.

He misspelled “portrait,” not me.

I’ve been thinking about doing something a day for a while. I recently found the Skull-a-Day website, which totally inspired me, but I’m not that artistically inclined. Actually, I don’t want to share my artistic flounderings with the blogosphere. If I did a drawing a day I’d get better, but I don’t want anyone to see the starting point after I’ve been out of practice for so long.
So, on my way in to work this morning I saw a big plastic bag in the parking lot and I picked it up and tossed it in the trash by the door out of habit. I do this a lot-pick up after other people. And it hit me. I’ll pick up a piece of trash a day. I’ll try to take photos, I guess. Maybe I’ll just keep a log of what I’ve picked up. Maybe if I find something good I’ll keep it. One piece of trash a day out of the parking lots of Austin may not make a huge difference, but maybe people will see me and realize the world isn’t their trash can. Especially the people in my (to remain unnamed) apartment complex. I’m not going to wait until February to start, either.
