creating community

last night we had some kids for the community over for dinner & games. this morning we took eddie out for groceries, cigarettes and Taco Bell. tonight we’re heading out with others for dinner and hopeful good conversations. this is the thing - this is what often takes my time, community with neighbors.

in an effort to make light of the many variations of creation/creativity and what makes it so, i’m dedicating today to those who i most enjoy creating community with:

be well and enjoy sharing the creativity of community.

first thing’s first

as i begin this journey to create i wondered what would be a most creative way to bring in this new challenge. it was only three + weeks ago i stood in front of my husband and with great pain and joy declared that i needed to begin creating more. i missed the act of watching and experiencing creation.

therefore, this morning with bright eyes i decided to wake up before everyone, watch the snow continue to cascade and sit before my toaster over, watching banana muffins rise.

although not the best photo - it was a bit tricky to take capture the banana muffins as well as the snow tumbling down.

banana muffin that is sure to please any co-worker

ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 bananas, mashed
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter

1. preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease 12 muffin cup.

2. in a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg and melted butter. Stir the banana mixture into the flour mixture just until moistened. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups.

3. bake in preheated oven/toaster oven for 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.

this is sincerely one of the most delightful banana muffins i have witnessed rise before my eyes. enjoy!

oh man - the idea of the month is beginning to intimidate me…
