Day 18 - Saving Money

I’m sorry Thing-a-day. I am finding it harder to keep up with you lately. But at least I’m sticking with it.

I wasn’t able to do what I said I would today.

I did however spend 5 hours this evening picking up, carrying and returning a sofa bed I had bought for staging purposes to sell my house (it was day 30 of the return policy) and made/saved $180 back. That’s creative, no?

Wow, only 10 days left. For Day 19, the sketch book sketches I promised.

Day 16 - Bookmark Organization II

Firefox logo

Another couple hours was spent on cleaning up / organizing my bookmarks. It is unreal how many no longer work!

I’m glad to be getting the inspirational sites under order again.

Finding RSS sites to add to my reader too

For day 17, I’m not really sure yet what I will do. It’s not that I can’t think of anything, I just don’t know how much time I have. I’m trying to find some less time consuming things to do that I will still be satisfied with.

Day 15 - Calligraphy

European cities

The places I want to visit and / or live in.

I really like the brown ink. It makes it look victorian.

For day 16, I am going to tidy up some more bookmarks on my computer…fun stuff!

Day 14 - Red Velvet Cupcakes

vday cupcakes

Today I attempted Red Velvet cupcakes. I hadn’t heard of them until recently. They have a pretty interesting history it seems. I underestimated how much red food colouring I would need…so they ended up a pinky brown colour.

My bf is a fan, I however was not. They weren’t sweet enough for me. Mind you the icing was tasty.

For day 15, I will try my hand at Calligraphy!

Day 13 - Daily Planner

Daily Planner

Here is what the finished project of my daily planner looks like. I got the idea from Beth Dargis of My Simpler Life. I customized it to my life.

Yoga tin small

I also remade my yoga tin with a single serving Pringles tin. It works much better.

For day 14, I am baking something, though I can’t say what because the recipient reads my posts!

Day 12 - Bookmark organization

Firefox logo

I had trouble logging into Thing-a-day last night to post.
I spent a good few hours getting some of my Firefox bookmarks that had gotten out of hand. My guess is that I am a 1/3 or a 1/4 done. Hopefully I can get some more large chunks of time soon to cross it off the list.

Today for Day 13, I am going to devise and layout a daily schedule to carry around.

Day 11 - Calligraphy attempt I

Calligraphy books

Unfortunately, all I had time to do was take this book and my ancient calligraphic supplies out of a box and look through them today.

I will have to leave playing with Calligraphy for some other time.

For day 12, I just want to get a good size chunk of time to sort some of my Firefox bookmarks.

Day 10 - Yoga Inspirational Screen

Yoga Inspiration Screen
This was a wall dividing screen that I purchased nearly a decade ago. I never did anything with it. I was even going to sell it in a garage sale I’m having in a few months, but I got the idea for this I guess about a week ago and things changed.

I’m quite happy with it. It should be nice to face when I do yoga.

For day 11, I will play with calligraphy pens.

Day 9 - Yoga Inspiration

Happy Calm Quote

Oh boy, did I ever bite off more than I could chew today, even with it being a Saturday!

I neglected to mention that before I could print and frame, I would have to research imagery and design the 15 inserts.

Needless to say - incomplete, however all 15 pieces are now designed. This is a sampling of the centerpiece.

Therefore, for day 10, I will do what I said I would today - print and frame the pieces.

Day 8 - Easter Greeting Card Gocco Design

Happy Easter Gocco

I was playing around with patterns today and came up with this floral Easter theme design.

This is the artwork that I will use to screen print for another Thing-a-Day challenge.

For Day 9, I will print and frame some inspirational photos for my yoga area.

Day 7 - 2 emails

I feel boring with no photo(s) for today.

I wrote my 2 emails. It feels good to scratch them off the list.

For Day 8, I am going to create a new design that on another day I will screen print.

Day 5 - Yoga Poses Tin

yoga tin

It’s been a long day. I chose to wrap an empty tin with some pretty Martha Stewart wrapping paper. I can’t decide if I should spray paint the lid white? I already switched the original red one for this black one. Thoughts?

The yoga poses written out will have to wait until another day…

Day 6 shall be that other day. Yoga poses shall be written out and placed in the tin.

Day 4 - Blueberry Dye

Blueberry Dye Sequence

Today I made homemade dye by boiling blueberries.

Silly me thought I would get a lovely indigo colour, however it’s pink.

I’m holding out on what I will be using the dye for, because that is for a future post.

For Day 5, I am going to decorate a container and fill it with pieces of paper that have yoga poses written on them. I am going to try doing my yoga practice from home, but I want it to be a no brainer, as well as mix the routine up so that it is different each day.

Day 3 - Cardboard Cat Toys x 3

cat toy sequence

Affordable and easy to make cat toys.

I found the Mouse, Jak and Ball patterns FREE at Marmalade Pets

I made the notches too wide, so I ended up taping them to ensure the 2 pieces stayed together.

For Day 4, I will attempt to make dye from Blueberries!

Day 1 - Baked Cupcakes

cupcakes

Today I baked my trademark Cream Cheese Chocolate Cheese Cupcakes. My friend, Heather shared the recipe for the batter with me. It uses tofu in place of the eggs and oil, making it less of a guilty pleasure! The icing is a modification of one I came across a few months back on a craft blog. I use stevia in place of sugar. I also use low fat cream cheese and simply egg whites…the worse thing in it is probably the chocolate chips! I made these for several get-togethers over Christmas with rave reviews.

For Day 2, I am going to layout the recipe for anyone interested to download.

Eventually I would like to design a little recipe book. Perhaps one with all tofu based recipes.

Happy Friday folks!

The Day Before The Beginning

Hello,

I don’t know what these daily February challenges will evolve into, but I am looking forward to using this as an outlet and an excuse to commit to more of the things I enjoy and would prefer doing on a daily basis. I really hope it allows me to form the habit to continue afterwards!

I am going to do my best to hold myself accountable, by posting what I intend to make for the following day.

For February 1st, I’m going to make tasty cupcakes!

I look forward to seeing everyones daily actions.

Until tomorrow…
