I like paper crafts so much, I keep going back to the same projects. A few months ago I saw this and decided to glue nice strips of paper [with cool patterns I found in an IKEA catalogue… ] to sized toilet rolls. Made a few bracelets. Huge sucess!
This time I thought that I could cut skinnier and shorter rings and make a necklace:

As I said before…
a card. It isn’t finished yet
I still want to do a really nice thing with it. But unfortunately I only had the time to cut the shapes today.

Doodles of flowers. All from my imagination, although I have to admit that some seem to be a bit inspired by existing flowers.
Next, I’ll be doing a card with one of these sketches…

Doodling around while listening to andrew birds’ “mysterious production of eggs”; blonde redhead’s “23″ and camera obscura’s “let’s get out of this country”.

This week was completely crazy for me.
Since monday Feb 11 that I found out about this PhD programme that really seems exciting and a very good oportunity similar to what I’ve been waiting to find. I’ve been gathering all the information and “paperwork” needed for the application. Assuming that I also need to work… it didn’t leave much time to do my crafts!
On wednesday Feb 13, the pharmacy where I work at was robbed around 8:30pm, by two men each holding a gun at us. Very scary… Since then the rest of the week was crazy: going to the police, working with a very strange feeling of fear… At the same time, during my free time, I had to keep on with the application and trying to figure out which professors I should choose to be my referees. Fortunately it wasn’t very difficult to sort that out! [and I’m ever so happy for that!]
So, today I did something to keep my mind sane!
These are paper beads that I made by recycling a take-away pizzaria advert [green thoughts!]. I didn’t really have any idea of what to do with these beads, so I started looking around my craft supplies finding out nice beads and a cool string to use.

I bought this card book on origami with a few models and ready-to-use paper (just need to fold!). I folded some of the models and thought that it could be a very colourful gift for my boyfriend, along with the things I made for him for valentine’s.
The first two are fishies or as they say it in japan “akakoi” (do they say this in japan?); and then I decided to fold the pinwheel (kazaguruma). A crochet chain in green wool keeps these 3 origami models together, I made a loop at the top of the chain, so that he can hang it wherever he wants.

Origami is something I’ve always been fascinated about.
I don’t have much time today, so I ended up doing the masu box… a model that I already explored a few months ago…
This time I got special origami paper specially designed for the masu box model.

Today I decided to do an accordion with light green envelopes (size C7 81 x 114 mm). I saw this here.
It’s a cool way to store all my bits of paper and notes that I usually gather in my pocket planner. I used to have moleskines, and that folder they have at the end was a good way too store all these bits and pieces. This year I bought a really nice pocket diary - from the Royal Horticultural Society - but no folder

My thing for today is the finished card that I’ve been talking about since February started. OK, I still need to write on it.
[Ermm, I hate to take pictures with my mobile…]

Yesterday was a very confusing day for me. Didn’t have time to do anything creative at all, ended up with a stormy headache in the evening.
To make up for yesterdat I decided to start my project #2 for valentine’s day - the heart puzzle. It looks nice, but with a few rough edges that don’t make the pieces hold together. Anyways, I’m planning on making my valentine’s card out of this idea. The concept is what really made me do it. [because I really believe that my boyfriend and I are pieces of the same puzzle - we totally match!!!
]
This is made out of light cardboard, cut the pieces with scissors and then traced them in two different patterns of lightweight scrap paper. Cut those paper pieces and glued them to the original cardboard pieces. Most of them fit together, but some still need some work.

Crochet is a new hobby for me, had to learn it by myself but with my mother’s hints and tips. I had the idea of making a nice skinny scarf joining crochet flowers [got the pattern from a magazine]. It’s been amazingly addictive! I chose colors that would make me wear it a lot, specially pink.
Here are the results so far… it’ll be a project for the next few days, most certainly.

Yeay! finished one of my valentine gifts…
It’s a small felt scented “pillow” : filled with [love!] some kind of synthetic fluffy filling; to which I sewed different coloured crochet hearts with all sorts of different buttons. It’s scented so that my cute and lovely boyfriend can put it on his underwear drawer and enjoy both colours and smell!

Missed Feb 03! Oh no… not that I didn’t have any ideas, or that I didn’t do a thing for the day… But I kind of forgot to post it.
To make up for the past day, today I’m going to post a nice mosaic that shows some of my Lomo photos I took these past 3 months. I know, it’s cheating! But it was only today that these films were developed!
here are the urls of these photos, to my flickr site:

Today I had lots of different ideas for crafty things to do, but I can only make one thing at a time… so, I chose to do a butterfly pin for a friend of mine. I got this idea because I have a butterfly pin of my own, that I bought a year ago. Mine is made of 3 different pink tones of felt, sewed together in a pin. My friend saw it and fell in love with it, so I promised I’d make her one. But I added a few things to make it a little more appealing.

Well, Valentine’s Day is in 13 days so today I thought that I better start thinking of a nice thing to make for my boyfriend (in a cute small size that can be shipped by airmail, without being expensive!).
So I started sketching and came up with this idea of making a puzzle of a heart. It’s still a concept, but I think it’s a really nice idea. I’m going to make the puzzle pieces and put them in a tiny plastic bag; it’ll be based on a valentine’s card [that I’ll also provide] and he’ll amuse himself [briefly - not too hard of a puzzle! hehe] while putting all the pieces together.
By this I’m trying to represent the uniqueness of our love and how I think that we were really made for each other
and now… the sketch: [photo taken with my mobile!]

Hey everyone!
This will be my first try on thing-a-day.com! Looking forward to see lots of creativity everyday! I hope to learn a lot with everybody’s ideas and to feel inspired by them.
I have a nice growing list of ideas of my own. A few things have even been delayed so that I can turn them into good projects for a uninspired February day… Let’s see how this goes!
Oh so little to do and so much time in our hands! Wait. Reverse that!
Have fun everyone!*
