day 6

on one hand i hate pumping out these paintings without having the chance to develop them, they’re all rough drafts of paintings…a mere few chisels cut from a slab of stone; the first ingredient tossed in bowl for a recipe.

on the other hand…i’m actually painting. the more i paint the more i cover my walls with their stories. i can actually call myself a painter now because i’m doing it.

one last thought. i don’t give myself much room to be a beginner. i struggle with giving myself the freedom to make bad art so that i can step onto greater things. but hopefully posting these will develop the courage i need to go farther.

here’s the first one i painted. i did this all one after the other. cookie cutter paintings with spontaneous frosting.

this is the second one. i wanted to see what i would paint if i was gearing it towards my workplace: a spa.

third: a friend was telling me about some various colors that she wanted in a painting. this didn’t turn out how i wanted it to at all.

lastly, there is this painting. (i actually had another painting in between these two, but i won’t post it until i’m finished.)

day 5

today has been a day of fire. of bickering and of communicating. of taking a hike in the hills with finches, lizards, a very excited white dog, and three hawks. it has been a day of footprints, of unity, and of rest.

my macbook pro a/c adaptor wire is melting at one end (yes, i need to get a new one). ah the smell of plastic burning. it stinks. but i must post my latest painting…

day 4

busy day! no time for paint. i leaped over bounds with other issues, but left painting to the curb for february 4th, my day off nonetheless. however, today, which is actually the 5th, i painted two paintings, so here is the first one, dedicated to the 4th day with love…and a bit of haste.

day 3

scribbled in my notebook & added some water colors. no time for the lusciousness of acrylics.

day two

let me preface this post by saying that this was completed in like 5 minutes. i needed to be asleep like…an hour ago…but hey, it’s february. it’s thing-a-day. i did it, yes. but i’m looking forward to day 3 & more time.

one painting a day

it is time for me to do a painting a day. i first heard of this concept from an artist friend: her website is @ clairebcotts.com. she actually has a “painting a day” blog. i wanted to do it too, but there was no time. oh yeah, and i was scared.

i just got an email from a writer friend who thought of me when she heard about thing-a-day.com. probably because we write 50,000 words every November (about 1667 words a day) with the thousands of other novelists that participate in National Novel Writing Month (nanowrimo.org).

so here we go. february it is. here’s to creativity and getting messy! here’s to not using capital letters in the beginning of sentences, and allowing ourselves to make mistakes. yeah.
