golden statue and pink umbrella
today i practiced some more in photoshop… first i tried the gold tutorial that i tried earlier this month on a photo that i took last week. the gold doesn’t look so much like gold, but the matte edge looks better than my first golden egg attempt. also, i think i like the original photo better, but that’s ok…
* i have edited the gold look from earlier today based on feedback and the fact that i didn’t like what i made earlier… i think it definitely works better but still doesn’t look quite gold-like…

Something is off on the lion. I think the shadows are too hard compared to the original. The specular highlights on the edges, fresnel effect, isn’t sharp enough. Its a good attempt. I never tried to make something look golden in Photoshop before.
The umbrella shot is more successful as an illusion when I look at it in the smaller image. When I look in the larger image the umbrella looks less grainy / noisey than the rest of the image. Also the man’s arm and glass has a slight ghost image to the left. I think adding some noise in a layer to the umbrella and perhaps a blurred offset second layer of the umbrella will make it absolutely integrated.
Bravo!
thanks for the feedback, those are all good ideas…
