Loom Knit Things (photo-heavy)
I’m making something every day, but I’ve decided A) I can’t possibly post every day and B) there are some things (sketches, crappy paintings, etc) that I do not wish to share with the public. So I’m just going to post things in batches whenever I am up for it. If this is contrary to the spirit of Thing-A-Day, I’m sorry, but it’s what I can manage. (Typing is very hard for me, as I have arthritis in my fingers; as a result posting and describing photos and dealing with Flickr and all of that is hard to do.)
So, some of the things I have made in the past week:

Lagoon Legwarmer. This one was meant to be a daily thing, but wound up taking twelve hours over two days. I did a crappy watercolour (I am new to watercolour) to catch up, but I am sooo not showing you that. I’ve posted about this on my blog already if you want more details.
Project Superstar
Superstar base hat: A child’s hat made for a very special young lady who is going to undergo chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant in a few weeks and who is behind Project Superstar which raises money for a charity. This hat is pretty boring on its own, which is why I made this to go with it:
Superstar “Hair”: This is a headband with lots of yarn attached to sort of look like Muppet hair. Unfortunatley I don’t have a hat dummy to show you, it makes more sense when not laid flat.
I decided to make her another hat, but as I never use patterns I had to figure out the right texture and size which meant I had to do what knitters hate: Make a gauge swatch. Or more accurately, about four of them. It took so long I decided that surely must count for a thing a day. They all got ripped out (I hate wasting yarn, especially yarn that is soooo hard to get in my country), but the final one looked like this:

Having got my gauge, the next day I made the hat itself.
Alas, making a light box was something I did later in the week, so this photo is somewhat dark. Anyway, it’s based on a design I saw on the internet, made up in a pretty, soft, and most importantly machine-washable yarn.
I hope she likes the hats
If anyone can help me find sources of Lion Brand Yarn in the UK (I know of one, but am looking for more that might be cheaper), PLEASE let me know. With a bone marrow transplant she can only have stuff that is machine washable, but she has sensitive skin and the scalp is some of the most sensitive anyway so Lion Brand is the best so far at hitting all of the marks. I only had that one yarn in my personal stash so I’m now on the lookout for more Suede yarn and ideally some Homespun too.
I have now typed way more than my fingers can handle, so I guess it’s back to knitting! Next time I shall have beading and felt to show, so until then, adieu!

I ENJOYED SEEING YOUR KNITTING. i TOO HAVE KNIT HATS FOR CHEMO PATIENTS. yOU ARE DOING A VERY GOOD THING.
Sorry for the caps, just noticed it. Hvae you tried any speech to text software to help reduce typing? I do support for children in schools and some of the newest software has excellent accuracy. I am not selling anything, just thought you might get some relief. The software does work with the internet.
Just a thought.
