for mom…

The official round of thing-a-day is done. Thank you all for your incredible work and see you next year!
I have been so happy with the programmer that I have been using that I wanted to add this capability to the xbee rf modules that I built a few months ago. I wired dio0 to both send and recieve boards and put the cap on the output side and wired up a reset.

Then I figured out that the data passing would require updating the flash on both boards and that that required a windows based PC. (LARGE PILE OF EXPLICITIVES REMOVED HERE) I moved the passthrough to the rts/cts pairs which the old firmware is supposed to support met NOOOOO!
If I built it but it doesn’t work yet did I make a thing?
UPDATE: 25feb08 I found an old ob900 (I have like 15 old omnibooks in various states of running) that was running W2k and upgraded the firmware on both radios. I will test them out after I have had some sleep.

Bird of Paradise
I know
you can never
venture from your place
among the silver leaves
but when I wake in the morning
I often hope
that you have finally taken flight
with your ruby-colored throat
I was in the card shop recently perusing the Valentines, wondering, “who designs this stuff.” Cards wiggle and make noise and play music and are mushy and tear-jerky and silly and even off-color and offensive. I still think there is no better Valentine than one that is hand-made by little fingers with innocence and unabashed emotion. These are the keepers…
Construction paper,
Red, pink—and paper doilies,
White glue and glitter.
Cut out a heart shape
Write a message in crayon.
Capture mama’s heart.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY ALL!!!!
I protest giving Hallmark and American Greetings more money on an already lucrative holiday. And so, I hand made my husband a card today.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!!!
Tonight I had a Valentines Day Tea Party and Panties Decorating Extravaganza. I had a great time. I only decorated one pair - but since I threw the party, I still have all the fabric paint to use at another time. Other folks decorated drawers, but I don’t consider it appropriate to post those pictures without their express permission.
Result of one of yesterday’s experiments, + a quick gift for my husband - Kew is our name. I think my things are getting smaller - by the end of the month, I’ll be stringing three beads together and calling it a project!
FYI - for those who like to color, you will find this site quite interesting: http://www.enchantedlearning.com/artists/coloring/
Today, a photo. It was bright and clear, so I snapped a photo while walking by the Empire State building:

Day 14 was a wash. (although there’s one hour left). Vday, Arts League meeting (I’m on the board), catching up on articles leaves little time for the fun stuff..
I wanted to make some sort of Aspergers related design so this is what I came up with for now.

Today I attempted Red Velvet cupcakes. I hadn’t heard of them until recently. They have a pretty interesting history it seems. I underestimated how much red food colouring I would need…so they ended up a pinky brown colour.
My bf is a fan, I however was not. They weren’t sweet enough for me. Mind you the icing was tasty.
For day 15, I will try my hand at Calligraphy!
