Text Cloud
I spent time today designing new business cards for my training business. Moo.com lets you decorate both sides of your cards, and I wanted something clever for the back of my card. I ran a text cloud on my web site, and then took inspiration from that to create this text cloud.

Nice idea Jen!
Thiss looks cool. What is a text cloud? Itis the first I have heard that term.
I like the design. This is the first time I heard the term text cloud. How did you create it?
A text cloud uses the frequency of each word within a block of text (web site, speech, document) to create a visual map of the text. The bigger the word, the more frequent the word is used (which implies its importance). I generated the text cloud for my site using tagcrowd.com (I could point it to the URL or copy and paste in text).
That gave me a good starting point, but didn’t quite convey the message I wanted to. So, last night I used OmniGraffle (although any photo or image editing tool that allows for text would work) to create the text cloud I posted. I just listed out all of the words I wanted, ranked them in importance to me, then made the different sizes based upon the ranking. Then I arranged them in the box (which is the size of the business card — 28mm x 70mm).
Does that help?
