I saw this project and i REALLY, REALLY wanted to do. I even got out my supplies today and cast on 6 stitches. I couldn’t get any farther. Lame. I’m too much of a beginner I guess.
Olive your olive
oh thank you! i wish i could help you… if you have a beginning knitting book (i recommend ’stitch n bitch’ by debbie stoller) it will show you most of the steps that you need to know to make it. the 3 main tricky parts are 1: knitting like as if to knit an i-cord—to do this, you just push the stitches that you cast on to the opposite end of the needle—pull the yarn that you knit into up/behind—so it ends up looping onto itself; 2: increasing and decreasing stitches.
Hah, that’s great! I would love to see a whole jar of knit olives!
Sorry you are sick!
Too much Bailey’s in the cake perhaps?
Maybe this will cheer you, although you probably already know about it:

Not lame at all. I told my wife about your olives. I think they are a great idea and very creative. I also like how you are working in all sorts of mediums. Keep it up!
