Late Day 6: sketch
I was trying to finish a book I was reading yesterday (Pillars of Earth by Ken Follett - it was very, very good), so I did a little sketch, ’cause it was quick and didn’t take any kind of preparation. It’s the first real sketch I’ve done in probably more than a year, so it kind of sucks. I based out off this photo of an owl. In retrospect, maybe I should have gone for something with a little less texture (i’ve never figured out how to draw feathers. advice anyone?), but I like owls
Anyway, I left my laptop at work yesterday, so I couldn’t post this till I got to work (shh! don’t tell my boss!)

Nice sketch! I used to like drawing feathers, although I usually drew them floating in the air rather than on an actual bird. One tip is not to necessarily draw the details of the feather but to capture the shading. Kind of like with hair.
pretty good for being rusty.. i would also like to know how to tackle feathers in a drawing myself..
