Candy
The paper crinkles and I feel the treat that is waiting inside. I pull at the seam, it opens and with it a sweet smell that hints at what is to come. I take a small bite and feel the chocolate melting, giving way to reveal the caramel that sticks to my teeth. I play with the caramel with my tongue and lick the melted chocolate that’s left behind on my fingers. I take another bite, then another. All thoughts of chewing slowly, of savoring each bite melts away in the frenzy of candy bar consumption. Oh, it’s so delicious. And now it’s gone! I see the wrapper laying on the table and feel a little twinge of guilt. You can’t have your Milky Way and eat it, too.
