DiY Bath Beads:
Buy some empty gelatin capsules, find an oral syringe (your pharmacist will probably give you one if you ask nicely), and choose a scented or unscented oil. Use the syringe to fill the capsules, and there you go - bath beads! These are 00 capsules filled with plain almond oil, for a relative with dry, very sensitive skin

And here they are, boxed up and ready for testing:

Several years ago I took apart an Etch-A-Sketch and took notes on the “complicated pully system” inside. have wanted to build one of these since then. With this and several other projects in mind I bought a small pile of Tamaya pully sets. (this project ate most of 3 of them)
This turned out to be a bit more complicated that I origionally thought. I wanted to use the check reader motor mechanism that I have a pile of them but mounting them turned out to be less than straight forward. once I got through that I had to repully and thread each axis 4 or for times. My first attempt at the pivot point was a small disaster as well. However we persevered and there it is. Tomorrow my thing will probably be a motor driver board to use with this.

I wanted to add this yesterday but was having browser/WordPress problems. At work yesterday I glanced out the window and saw these great wispy clouds, so I went up to the roof and took a picture. NDS Building, Har Hotzvim area, Jerusalem.

Today I shoveled the driveway twice and made a square piece for my blanket. The yarn I’m using is a Yorkshire Tweed 4-ply and no. 3 needles. I sort of modified a pattern from a Debbie Bliss book (How to Knit). I’ve calculated that with the amount of yarn in my stash, I could potentially make 72 squares! 6 down, 66 more to go!

Uuu this afternoon I went to a comic store and bought this comic by a girl who graduated from my school. It was pretty awesome so you should check out her blog and her website! Okay?
Still more random shit because I’ve got to work on finals until next Tuesday. Sorry, I suck :C I’ll try and paint tomorrow though!

My daily Thing for today: a set of anatomical heart drawings. I did them freehand based on a clip art illustration I found using google image search. Both are drawn with red marker, sharpie, and my favourite Staedtler coloured pens. The one on the right is embellished with decoupaged papers and sewing. I have never used my sewing machine on paper before and I was pleased with how it turned out. I plan a third one in the series using black screenprinting ink on red fabric, but that is going to be a much more labour-intensive project for a more ambitious day.
I’m not too pleased with the photos–they look a lot better in real life, especially the one on the right which has some texture. But that is the way of it.

Drawn at Pinnacles National Monument on 02/05/08, this also comes late (my tent didn’t have a scanner).
Beautiful park. Don’t necessarily recommend camping there in February though. (>29F…brrrr)

… here’s one I made earlier.
I’m feeling a bit run down today (headachey, sick and you don’t want to know what else) so I’ve been slowly adding to an ongoing long project. I’m knitting squares in Garter Stitch they are twenty sts by twenty rows and are knit in Sirdar Denim Ultra in corn. I’ve almost finished knitting one square today and that is todays thing… but it’s not quite done and I need to get off the computer so I thought I show you a finished one so I can get off here for the night, watch Kitchen Nightmare’s and finish it off.

I saw this tutorial for Shaving Cream Marbled Paper(http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=9922) and just had to try it.
I’ve tried to do the shaving cream technique on polymer clay but it was a muddy mess by the time I finished.
The papers came out great. I will probably make more this weekend.
Messy plate of shaving cream and alcohol inks…..be warned this is a super messy project.

So I was so excited to post tonight, but then I got a little stuck. I’ve been trying to prepare my portfolio for an interview I have tomorrow and then I messed around with more website comps, none of which I like very much at all. And then I attempted to start a new knitting project even though I haven’t finished my scarf yet. So I don’t have much to actually show for today. Tomorrow though!
Edit: putting up the comp i failed to upload.

I seem to be getting more and more simplistic with my portfolio design. I feel like its missing something though.

Can someone please tell me why I think the monster in Loch Ness and “Champy” are absurd, but the Shroud of Turin is a miracle?
