Day 5: Magazine Poem

So Newsweek came in the mail today and instead of reading it and becoming smarter, I took scissors to it and became crafty. This is a technique an english major friend shared with me. Since poems normally follow some set of rules, the rules of the magazine poem is that you can only use phrases of two words or more (I cheated, twice) from a single magazine. Mixing phrases from two different magazines is a big no-no. I mean, can you imagine poor Newsweek’s phrases trying to blend with Cosmo? It would be very wrong.

  • Cute and creative!

  • As well, this would be a great project for elementary school kids, too!
